Help me pick a vehicle heater for winter camping.

Any idea of how a candle lantern would do? I read they take the edge off and take care of condensation issues in tents really well. Seems hanging one of these up would work well but have no experience with them. From my searches I seem them brought up quite a bit but never really discussed...

    09 JKU + supercharger vs '12+ JKU

Bradfordrovers, Thank you for the info on your experience with the AEV SC on your similarly equipped JKU, other than I am surprised you're still running 4.10s!! This is the type of driving that I am really looking to improve on. I come from several 4.0l XJs and CTDs that hardly know there is a...

    09 JKU + supercharger vs '12+ JKU

What mods have you done to achieve this? I stopped in to the local dealer and ran the numbers. Looks to be about a $15k jump to a new 2014 JKUR, with no loss on my trade(even from original purchase). That is a lot of cash but what do i get for that? Starting over on mileage from zero (or there...

    09 JKU + supercharger vs '12+ JKU

I don't think my JKU is capable of triple digets even downhill. I'm not in need of a racecar I just want to be able to run comfortably down the freeway at 75 and run the AC with the soft top on without it being in 3rd gear to do so. I really miss the low end power of the 4.0l in my XJ that could...

    09 JKU + supercharger vs '12+ JKU

I am not stuck on the AEV/Mangusen unit either, the RIPP would be an option as well.(haven't done any research) hmm, Still have to go that deep with 35s and the lower 5th gear.

    09 JKU + supercharger vs '12+ JKU

Brian, I did drive a couple initially before purchasing my current JK and stock I wasn't impressed to be honest, but that was stock. Pushing around 5k+lbs with 37" tires have left some desire for better gearing and more power and am now wondering if the new power train would suffice. I am...

    09 JKU + supercharger vs '12+ JKU

I currently have an 09 JKU Rubicon (see signature below) with 82k now. I have enjoyed owning it and got a good deal when I purchased it so I am not making any hasty decisions. I have a couple of complaints though, 3.8 provides little power/economy and I am not impressed with the transmission at...

having a hella time finding a rubi with the right options

While I am not overly impressed with my factory nav unit, I do like having a factory unit in place to deter petty thieves. Mine is the older version so I hope they have improved it. I have never been afraid to travel for the car and/or deal I wanted. A 3 hour drive saved me several thousand...

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

Not sure why but your post reminds me of probably my favorite XJ I owned super simple but was excellent. Was a 96 Sport, equipped with upcountry package(1" lift, full skid plates, rear LSD(that actually worked) I added factory ZJ upcountry coils and a simple 1" lift shackle to achieve a 2" lift...

1996-2001 XJ or 2001-???? WJ - Need Knowledgable Advice

RE #1 XJ: pick your trim level but probably not going to find a select trace in the base model SE. Note that its not just a failing gasket but the head actually cracks on the 00-01 models. Oh and because I don't recall reading it, pre 00 4.0 will more than likely have or will have a cracked...

1996-2001 XJ or 2001-???? WJ - Need Knowledgable Advice

I wouldn't say a 4.0 WJ is that bad considering the 3.8JKU combo.. But as others have confirmed there are a lot more possible issues with the WJ. My best advice would be to go out drive one or two of each and maybe a 4runner or 80 series LC… I mentioned the Tcase swap as an option, I would hate...

1996-2001 XJ or 2001-???? WJ - Need Knowledgable Advice

I've had both and ultimately prefer the np231/command track but do see where the np242/select track works well. In the XJ it's an easy swap if you're up for it. The WJ I hear is about the same but haven't done it so I can't say exactly. The WJ will definetly be better for kids and a car seat...

1996-2001 XJ or 2001-???? WJ - Need Knowledgable Advice

IMO you can't beat the XJ reliability. The WJ has more issues and if it were me I'd be looking for a 4.0 WJ. The 4.7s are known to have issues. I personally see the XJ as Camry reliability not the WJ but that's just me, I know people have good luck with them.

    JKUR for ram mega cab?

It really depends on what you want to go with it. If I didn't enjoy jeep trails with the family I would have kept my 06 3500 CTD quad cab short box. It was a great truck despite the maintenance items that started piling up($$$$), fuel mileage was higher but cost more so its about the same...

WHAT TIRE PRESSURES DO YOU RUN?

Against the grain here, but I run 32psi street on the JK and 35psi on the XJ. 35was necessary on the XJ as it would get squirly on corners (freeway speeds) with the 315/75r16 MTRs(gen 1 not Kevlars) at 32psi, 35psi fixed that handling issue brought on by the tires. The previous set of BFGs had...

realistic ideas/goals for expo xj and lift?

33s are the perfect tire for an XJ. I currently have 35s and would swap back to 33s in a heartbeat if money wasn't an issue. From my experience I have zero more capability and less gearing, power, mileage etc.. 33s are all you need to do most any trail you will ever encounter, some exclusions...

    My White JKU Expedition Build

Just thought the opinions/experience to be interesting. I'm sure mine will be doors and too off as early as bearable come spring! Maybe with half doors this go around though. One tip I have for keeping it cool is point the AC vents toward the roof if you're running it together. Seemed to be...

    My White JKU Expedition Build

Interesting read about the hard/soft tops. I was so excited this spring to pull the hard top and run the Offroad heros top I had at the time. One look at all the brackets and parts and pieces I said forget it and purchased a like new factory top on CL. I ran that in various options, my...
