Wrangler Tire Size - Overland, Trail, and Other

I run 37s on the JK and will not go smaller. On the lighter XJ I believe 33s are the best size out there. My JK on 37s cannot even compare to my previous XJs ability. Deep snow is my preferred terrain though.

    best suspension for washboard roads

I would say OME is the best place to start as they are designed for miles and miles of that type of terrain while carrying a load.

Need opinions on AEV suspension/tire upfgrade

If the AEV suspension is indeed stiffer than the other manufacturers out there, I am certainly happy with my purchase..as I feel my AEV lift is too soft for most of my driving. If I had less spring rate or dampening I'd be an unhappy costumer for sure. Any links to spring rates of different...

Need opinions on AEV suspension/tire upfgrade

I was going to say just leave it alone until you decide what you want but if the current ride is that bad, give the 2.5 a try. I have the 3.5 and really wish it was an inch lower even with the 37s even with the stock flares before going to the MCE flat fenders. But it's all personal preference...

Toyo M/T again worn down after 25'000miles! Need better tires! Bighorn, Dynapro, KM2

For a mud terrain tire I think you have about the most durable out there- especially for a 8k rig and sounds like you need that durable of a tire where you are using them. I would not go BFG or bighorn, my personal experience is they are way less durable and wear faster. I got just about 75k...

    ARB 50 QT -- Buyer's Remorse?

Any thoughts on the 63qt? I know the OP is debating between the 37/50 but I wonder if the lower height of the 63 would meet the preferred height dimension for adding a shelf as mentioned and accommodate 4 people for a week. 37qt seems way small IMO.

Has your JK ever left you stranded?

It has never left me stranded but have had a couple close calls. The neutral safety switch is dis functional on my JK and until I learned what it was I was almost stranded after a difficult scramble up a peak- walking out was not an attractive option. The other was when the solinoid pack went...

    AEV Bilstein Shock Upgrade

Same boat here except with a 3.5" AEV kit. I will be swapping to Fox shox. There was a thread on the AEV forum that made this swap and seemed very happy with the result.

What mpg are you guys getting?

I drive up and down hills, very little flat land. I can get 16.5 at best, the usual combined mileage of running a day or two or trails and a few hours on the freeway to and from usually yield about 12-14. 16-16.5 is with ethanol free fuel, it does make a difference but usually just covers the...

    98 XJ New Adventurer Build

If you delete the ABS pump that compressor fits nicely right next to the master cylinder. Assuming you are not using the ABS due to the D44. Might be more work than worth it but it does fit perfectly.

    Dynabeads

I ran air soft bbs a few years ago. Same logic applies. I also ran 8oz for a set of 33s. The heavier/larger the tire the more weight to balance is the theory. Wheel design/ differences shouldn't affect weight needed to balance the tires. I loved them, even wear out of a set of 33" BFG MTs for 68k.

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

Here's a couple pictures of my JKU and one of my XJ. Got my spring snow wheelin fix in and now ready for summer exploration. Btw JKU has AEV 3.5" and am very happy with its performance. I daily drive it as well as take longer trips to Montana and I find it works very well for everything. On...

Land Cruiser 100 to Jeep Rubicon Unlimited: Capability? Comfort?

The devil you know is better than the devil you don't. Sounds like your 11mpg jumped to 17 when you needed it. The JKU is cool but honestly I like driving my 'old' XJ as much as anything. Runs and drives like a top and fits like a glove. It needs maintenance but I know everything about it...

    Centramatic Dynamic Wheel Balancers

I ran 8 oz of air soft bbs in each of my 33"s for several years. Tires always ran smooth and wore very evenly. I always worried I would loose bbs when I blew a bead but never did. I blew the beads on these multiple times even once in a creek and did not loose any bbs. The sound of the bbs...

Making the JK A/C Colder for <$2

We also used to do a similar mod to the ECU temp sensor to trick the computer into thinking it was running slightly hotter than it was to allow the electric fan to kick on before it was too late an XJ thing.. Interesting mod for the AC, do you happen to know the temp difference the system is...

IBEX MULTI-MOUNT CARRIER FOR AEV CARRIER

Hard to generalize but most carriers I have built and have used and been impressed by their ease of operation have had a small amount of preload so to speak so a loaded carrier will line up with the latch properly and open close smoothly when loaded with a tire etc. While the hinge is carrying...

Jeep TJ spits and sputters when started cold?

Could be way off but at least do yourself the favor of checking the battery voltage before and after starting... My XJ did this and I kept thinking all these different things ignoring the battery because well it cranked just fine. A weak battery and/or alternator (cold weather amplified) will...
