    2012 JKU Rubicon Build/Adventure Thread

While I am not too surprised, bummer the hinges are not holding the weight as one would liked. That is a lot of weight on them though, do you mind investigating whether the hinge itself has play or if the bolts are not holding tight on the tub or if the assembly is simply bending? You might...

    A Scrambler's Homecoming

Saw your rig parked at Fisher towers parking lot last Friday. Sweet rig. I walked up to it thinking super clean scrambler then realized it was posted here. Were you climbing or assisting in the rescue?

Realistic Amount of Miles You Can Expect From an Unlimited

As said look for a 3.6, 2013+ to stay away from the 1st year head issues. The 3.8 you are taking a chance no matter the mileage, 1qt of oil per 1k is insulting. You can certainly save money by purchasing a 07-09' just don't sell your self on that era being trouble free. I did purchase an 09...

How hard is it to remove a Gobi roof rack?

    - Longtallsally I'm in about the exactly the same spot. I do not have a rack and to be honest find it hard to drop $4k on a rack and RTT being just a compromise to get by. Interested to see the points of view as this thread developed.

JK tire carriers- Tera-flex vs AEV?

I'm interested in the option as well, how does the MORyde reinforcement compare to the TeraFlex carrier? If I am visualizing correctly the TeraFlex carrier would also reinforce the door. I am skeptical of the door strength and am having a hard time seeing how they hold up to 150+lbs of static...

JK tire carriers- Tera-flex vs AEV?

Good info, never knew the AEV offset the tire but in the picture posted Blue Baby Sound I can see a 37" tire is tight to the door handle. Good point with the CB antenna, I have a flexible SS antenna that would be constantly whacking the hi-lift, will have to consider that. No mention of...

JK tire carriers- Tera-flex vs AEV?

Interesting find! Never knew there was a fuel caddy alternative, will be looking into this. Curious how tight it fits with the Teraflex.

JK tire carriers- Tera-flex vs AEV?

So the time has come where I want something different. I currently have a Poison Spider bumper w/ tire carrier. I originally really liked this setup as it was completely separate from the body and uses a door type latch so it isn't too difficult to release. I like the all bumper mounting for...

    Dead pedal install

I am considering one of these. The arch of my foot gets sore on long drives, strange but it's the only vehicle that I have had this happen.

Poll- Do you actually sleep inside?

I slept in my JKU last weekend with a cot, worked fantastic. I left the small side back seat up and had a good spot to take my shoes off or put them on. Sorry for derailing the thread. With a family, I'm thinking van like others have mentioned if you can handle sticking to roads and trails...

    Manifold Destiny

My XJ worked very well for cooking however I have had a hard time with it in my JK. I am finding that the trick is to have direct contact with the engine, just the underhood heat is not enough to heat a burrito. I currently have a hot dogger mounted to a brake booster air compressor bracket and...

Poll- Do you actually sleep inside?

In my Dodge Ram I slept in the back and while solo was a very nice simple set up. I simply used a fold up cot on the far left over the wheel well and then had my gear set up on the right side and had an isle in the middle. Was great for camping in inclimate weather. I used the truck for...

Poll- Do you actually sleep inside?

Maybe this isn't a big deal but those that have sleeping platforms that don't allow you to sit upright seem like they would not be ideal. I sleep in my JKU on the floor with a pad and it is comfortable and convenient. Only for light trips though over a weekend and I don't carry any gear that...

    JKU hardtop reinforcement?

Must say I do like the Teraflex option but for $1000 including the cross bars ( if I read their site correctly) you are pretty close to the AEV in both price and design. http://www.aev-conversions.com/shop/products/body-exterior/jk-roof-rack

That figures. Good job on your write up, I like the use of the momentary switch for the reasons you explained.

HOW-TO: DIY Kill Switch for JK Wrangler

Re auto trans. Yes I think something like this could be done just with the neutral safety switch instead of the clutch switch. Would have to read up on how these signal the computer of being in park or neutral. The old ones I believe closed a loop, but can't remember exactly.
