    Window tint

Ive had "illegal" window tint going back to my learners permit, always roll the windows down if I get pulled over and turn on all interior lights if its nighttime and never had an issue.. tho I did have a Highway Patrol in Washington State try to tell me the factory tint built into the front...

What size panels can my 100/20 Smart Solar handle?

6x 150W panels @ 22V is 132v in a series and would nuke a 100v max 100/20 You could run 4 panels in a series with a 100v input ceiling on the Renogy 150W specs I just grabbed randomly, but it would be pushing it in the winter.. would be better suited for 2 typical 36v house panels in a series

they are already installed (usually), very small 12v panels might not have any.. my HIT's have 4 of em for each series of cells it uses to make ~65v, they are potted into the little box on the back of em, if they are not potted usually you can pop the cover open and service/count em.. most house...

How good are RV washing Machines for Overlanding?

ooh, I like that idea.. if you got a trailer/truck or anything with a couple feet hanging past rear axle you can easily wash your clothes on some washboard roads.

What size panels can my 100/20 Smart Solar handle?

Oh yeah, all the nomenclature and electrical principles are the same.. its just once you get past that surface level the usefulness starts to drift as most of us run rather unconventional off the grid solar setups, where driving may be the 'generator' and perhaps you have hard personal limits on...

    Wire Size Assistance Requested

Or sometimes its just better to ask for forgiveness heh.. Before I finally obtained my own set of conduit bender I realized I could just use theirs sitting on the shelf in the same isle and add a couple bends to a long section of conduit for a fraction of the price of a couple pre-bends and...

What size panels can my 100/20 Smart Solar handle?

Be weary about conventional solar information you find on the internet, those of us using solar in mobile, nomadic configurations are not helped at all by articles and calculators and discussions that outright assume your putting fixed panels in on a fixed location with stable averages long...

Its all relative, I browse these forums and think the same thing myself.. We got dudes here building everything from scratch, making their own mini-split air conditioners, battery banks, full blown tiny homes on military trucks.. while I'm sad I dont have the tools or skills needed to weld...

Upgraded Propex HS2800 w/rigid Stainless Steel 1.125" (26mm ID) intake and exhaust, not the easiest size to find.. still gotta button up some loose ends with all stainless clamps and bug screens but I like this much better than that flexible crap I had dangling out before.. trying to decide to...

    Ac power system in camper

trying to shove some braided cable into one of those blind clamps is easier said than done, mebe if you tinned em w/some solder first.. otherwise I'd use the screw terminal type with forks as long as it was in a proper junction box and you got a good crimper.

    Another VW Bus thread

you can get really late model splitty's from Brazil, but I think by the 80's they were doing the Bays.. I've seen like 1976 Split Windows, not that any of that helps with air conditioning and putting a modern engine in it.

yeah they went from a waterboxer to a 1.8L 16v somewhere along the line.. I forget when, think it was early 90s, there's also the Brazilian Bay that got all kinds of engines in it and was retired in late aughts but those still got another decade before they can be imported.. either way it'd be a...

The Mexican Bay's from the 90's with Water Boxers and Air Conditioning are now old enough to import.. I'm seriously thinking of driving down to mexico and bringing back one for parts to help make mine water cooled with all the right OEM bits..

Wife needs indoor accommodations....what is worth buying?

Cooking in bear country, you definitely want an outdoor kitchen.. after decades of backpacking and tenting in bear country the prospect of cooking inside seemed absurd when we finally upgraded to a trailer. not that I'd ever go to Florida to camp in the summer, mebe in the winter.. but yeah I...

    Ac power system in camper

Since your wanting to run a space heater on the outlets, do breakers.. at least wire up the external plug for 20A w/20A main breaker.. then two 15A sub circuits for converter/outlets.. this will afford you the ability to perhaps plug into a 30A outlet at a campsite (w/adapter) and run both space...

A constant voltage converter and a smart charger together on the same battery circuit

Yeah in this case one source is sitting at float voltage, if the other is absorbing at a higher voltage that lower voltage source is not really doing diddly.. so even if your 'smart' charger was counting amps to decide when to stop absorbing and switch to float, it would not be influenced by...
