Find a good alignment shop in your area. One that the body shops use to straighten frames. They generally understand how to do a real alignment. I use these guys (for reference) http://www.frameandaxle.com

Unless you are dead set on hoping in and driving a new to you old rig with a boat load of miles and no chase vehicle, I would seriously consider having it shipped. You can dump a grand quickly stranded somewhere.

Tires, tire width, ball joints, bushings and alignment. Make sure that when you go for an alignment that you go to a real alignment shop. Someone who understands and knows how to set camber. Most places these days set toe and call it good (it won't be). Have a few extra camber bolts...
