    Pizza Cutter tires...

I agree with you. I put 235/85s on our '05 last year. Fill the wheel wells fine, but are really skinny and sit inboard too much to look good. Really should be 255/85. Ha - or 285/75

Gen2.5 vs G3n3, Not Necessarily Logical Edition

#4 - ARB makes suspension for the Gen 3 also. Issue with the Gen 2.5 and older is just that (old). Most vehicles are pretty much toast after 15 years (design criteria really) so you figure that the newest Gen 2.5 just turned 16 y.o. pickings of "good" ones really start to slim down. I love my...

Gen2.5 vs G3n3, Not Necessarily Logical Edition

    1) Gen 3, have driven ours on multi thousand mile road trips several times. Gen 2 - yea its OK - not comparable thou. 2) Same - except for age which can have a big factor for any plastic part as well as general condition, sun / weather exposure etc... 3) Gen 3 w/3.8l. I have never driven...

    Swank's Montero(s)

Yours looks great!, love our '05. Bought it 4 years ago with 78,xxx miles, now has 130,xxx great trucks. Check your timing belt / idler / water pump maintenance. Its a 60K item. Did ours at 90K (maybe unwisely pushed it)and will probably do one again in the spring or summer (around 150k)...

    Push Button Start

Are you sure its not the ignition switch? I've replaced it on all 3 of my older trucks. Common problem. The key barrel and lock housing are zinc castings and don't wear much. the Ignition switch is plastic. Its about about a $40 part and simple to replace.

    Gen 2.5: 4.90 gear swap Q's

You are correct. To stop the spinning you will need manual locking hubs. Even with the normal CAD setup, the CV shafts and jack shaft spin as stock. Manual locking hubs disconnect this action when unlocked and reduce this wear. If you had the M.S. front differential without manual hubs, the...

Drove the manual gen 2.5 today

I'm surprised you needed to raise the body this much from the frame and shift the engine back. Which transmission did you use? A V5MT1? My "old" '92 has one and there is no body lift from the factory. In other parts of the world, the Gen 2.5 had these transmissions from the factory as well...

Who can make the rear bumper I need

Say what? it is aftermarket. Don't be fooled that anybody makes an FMVSS conformed aftermarket winch bumper. Simple economics - yes. There are not many Monteros in the USA. When they were imported, roughly 10% of the sales of Jeeps.
