That's the type of setup I use.
My truck is my DD, and the only time I ever use a CB is on group trips / trail runs. So, when needed I use a hand-held unit with a magnet antenna.
I will note though, that the roof mounted antenna does sometimes have a problem with branches knocking it off on...
It's amazing what people will tolerate for a free ride!
I tried out the rear seats in the Sierra Double Cab. They are obviously better than a midsize truck. With a 6' tall person in the front, a 6' tall person in the rear has their knees grazing the back side of the front seat. The back side...
My truck is my DD, and I've actually had passengers in the rear a surprising number of times, so I would not want to totally rip out the seats either.
The Sierra is actually really clean and simple in its rear seating arrangement. Nice flat surface for loading cargo when the seats are flipped...
FRS is fine with fresh batteries, but I find whenever groups rely on those little handhelds, things usually start to fall apart after a while due to people's 5+ year old rechargeable batteries not holding much of a charge any more.
CB has worked much better in my experience, even with a really...
I don't think they had any 6.2s on the lot yet. They did not have any regular cabs yet either.
I did not notice the passenger side mirror enough to comment on it. The size was acceptable, and the field of view seemed ok to me.
The 3.08 gears play a big role in achieving the fuel economy...
Today was a rainy September day in southern Ontario, so with my outdoor plans cancelled, I decided to head to the GM dealer to check out the new full size trucks. They are starting to advertise the trucks pretty heavily now, with "tailgate party" events at many dealers. I'm stating to see them...
Yes, I also find these option bundles are sometimes really stupid. Especially the engine options. Manufacturers seem to treat more power as a "luxury." So, if you want a 6.2L, you must want the top of the line trim, right? Sometimes, but not always.
A Week in the Pennsylvania Wilds - Allegheny NF - Bald Eagle SF - Pine Creek ...
I don't get a lot of vacation time (1 week + 5 days), but don't hesitate to let me know what some of your future plans may be.
I like to get in on one or two of Niagara Overland's trips each year, as only one...
Good stuff so far. Looking forward to the rest.
I'm from Niagara Falls ON, not too far from you. I took my first trip to PA this summer, to check out Rausch Creek among other business.
Most of my past traveling and vacations have been in Ontario. However, I definitely foresee more trips to...
The first thing I would add is skid plates.
After you add some protection, take it out on a trail to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses, before you spend a ton of cash.
I'd likely follow with a lift and bigger tires, then bumpers / winch.
