2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Your's looks like most Tundra's I've seen.....the upper bed rail is straight with the lower border of the windows. The body panel line is continuous from the cab to the bed as well. Mine definitely is not that way. Yeah, your's looks like mine. Any history of accident at all? Mine...

is the 1st gen tundra one of the best platforms

I'm running stock 3.91 gears with 285/75-16 tires, ~220lbs of excess weight up front (bumper, winch), 2.5" lift, etc. The 4.7 has plenty of power when driving normally. It feels a bit weak when towing a boat though. I have no problem getting well over 80mph to pass when needed, which I...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Need some advice here guys. For a while now I felt like something looked a little "off" with the lines of the truck. It has always seemed like the bed of the truck is "tipped backwards" if that makes sense. I pulled out a tape measure and checked some gaps. I found that there is a 1/4"...

is the 1st gen tundra one of the best platforms

I forgot about the frame rust issues. Find a clean one, and then maintain the frame with cleaning and painting and you shouldn't have any issues. I'm experimenting with Fluid Film this winter to see how well that protects everything. One other thing I remembered....these trucks are heavy. I...

is the 1st gen tundra one of the best platforms

Negatives -Lower ball joint issue that plagues other Toyotas -4.7L V8 requires timing belt and water pump every 90k -lack of storage on the interior -lack of aftermarket support (getting better) -towing capacity is kind of low Positives -4.7L V8 has decent power and torque. Not nearly as good...

    2002 Sequoia Limited 4WD

Great photo essay. I have never seen TC hardware or arms up close, so was unsure of the differences between them and Camburg. I have Camburg and have been very pleased with them. Without pulling them back apart, I believe what you show here is very similar to what I have. I'm not sure how...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Not much happening here. But since the truck hit 200k, I figured it would be a good time to change the oil and rotate the tires. A bit ahead of schedule but starting with a nice round number is easier to keep track of. Replaced oil with Mobile 1 (been doing that since I got it) and filter...

    Trailscape's 06 Tundra

Thanks, that's a great video. Doesn't look too difficult either. I might try my hand at this soon....

    Trailscape's 06 Tundra

I'm partial to black personally. Simple and utilitarian. How did you go about modding your grille? I've always been interested in doing a mesh grille like that, but haven't come across too many write ups about it.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

HUZZAH! Hit 200k on the clock today on the way home. Quick cell phone grab to document: Truck is just getting broken in now. And it's running better than it ever has since I got it 30K miles ago. Here's to the next 200,000!

So mine are for sure Moog? Whatever they are they look like they were made for a different truck. The alignment seems to be holding great though, so I'll probably leave them until there is a problem.

Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

I'm jealous. Such a nice truck in great condition! I haven't found anything like that around me yet.

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

Modern train locomotives are a diesel-electric system. There is a large diesel engine (12 or 16 cylinders depending on the model) that produces lots of electricity to power either 4 or 6 electric motors (again, depending on the model). One motor per axle. The diesel engine is only a power...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

That's a really good question, and I don't know. I know the shop didn't use OEM, which kind of bothered me. I would've preferred that I supply my own parts, but they wouldn't allow it. So far these bolts have been fine, though I can tell they are not the same length as OEM.... One is longer...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I do like the double cab, but now my family has outgrown it. Hence the hunt for a Sequoia. Definitely keeping the Tundra though. I'm not a lot of help when it comes to ham radios. Lots of options out there and I'm new enough to know very little about any of them. It seems like most...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I'm definitely going with 05-07 due to the increased HP and 5 speed transmission. I love both on my truck, and will need that for towing. The 05 and up are definitely more expensive around me. Probably not going to go with Limited because I'm not sure I want to mess with the stock airbag...

2004 Tacoma front end knock, need help tracking down the cause

Also check out your lower shock mounting bolt when you are in there. Recently my rear suspension was making a knocking noise and it turned out that the "OEM" bolts were the wrong size or they had worn down a lot. Correct sized bolts solved that noise for me.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Just took at look at a well-maintained 2006 Sequoia SR5. 140K miles, maintenance up to date (timing belt done 30k ago), underside has very minimal corrosion. ~$9k which is a little high I think. Doesn't have leather seats or entertainment system, which would be great with 5 kids. So tempting...

    2004 Tundra Adventure Cab - Build/Adventure Thread

Those bumpers are normal production, just not on the website. Call him up and tell him what you want and he'll make it for you. His shop is extremely busy right now (because he makes such great products) so expect a long lead time. I just ordered a rear HC bumper with single swing out and the...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I'm glad you mentioned this. Here are my thoughts between the two: Snow: Duratrac's were excellent. I used them through a couple of rough winters and they were solid. This year we've had almost no snow, so I really haven't tested the KO2's besides maybe an inch or two at the most. I didn't...
