Alcoa wheels size 22.5 x 7.5 (four) and two steel inner wheels (rear dual).
8 x 275 mm bolt pattern (ie; Chevy or GMC c4500, C5500)
The Alcoa aluminum are powder coated black, the steels are spray painted black. Comes with the finishing kit pictured (buytruckwheels kit 87340) so you can add...
interesting find, an 8 lug rim but with more rim bolts than i've seen before. I think the steel ones that eastern sells were a prototype wheel that the military never actually used, i had tried to research those using part numbers etc but only ever found vague references in military 'request...
wow lots of great info! just to update - the eastern surplus rims weren't my problem, it ended up being the goodyear g275 msa (335/80r20) that I bought from Stazworks .... all of them are egg shaped and were in fact the cause of my violent shaking above 45+mph.
I'm currently about 1700...
Floor looks great! I went with a similar color
I arrived at a similar conclusion to Mog and didn’t install an awning on the truck. I’m sure they’re very handy and might put one on the back someday for quick shelter, but decided I didn’t necessarily want to sit right up against my truck when...
Fun project congrats on the find. I’m thinking of this type of toad also but also vaguely considering a mini or even Miata. Vaguely because I have two projects already ?. Have fun!
thanks, that was an early choice in this build - one of many things that if i were doing this build again I don't think I would've done. My initial plan was to completely 'civilianize' the truck and remove as much hint of its former life as possible... I wouldn't do that again i think (now)...
so...if i were just starting my build I'd go with what you did Korey - 1st attack and mpt81's
i'm not done with singles...but for now i'm going to run it on the 22.5's and finally go find places to sleep in it. i'll revisit the tires and wheels after I put some miles on these, for reference if...
Update on my tires/wheels- the tires are out of round... I drove it finally yesterday to burnish the brakes, that part went fine but the truck is still basically undriveable above 40. I had considered trying to grind the tires true myself, but fact is the move to singles has cost me 2+ years...
Hah wow yeah if you separate from the cj8 right there... you separate forever!
good point about backing up hadn’t thought of that , guess that’s a point for a car hauler!
How do you like the ride so far? I’m so tempted to get the mpt81’s instead of trying to grind my Goodyear’s round.
The interior of your truck is so perfect, great rig!
I feel your pain I just replaced the hubs rotors and calipers all around on my kodiak along with seals and a couple bearings. The front rotors and hubs are one big piece of steel maybe 140#? Like you said big trucks have heavy stuff. Plus bolts to tighten to 330 lbft and lugs above 400...
