    Lets talk about camp lights

Ive got red lights inside and outside the trailer door, they are wired to a dusk/dawn sensor so they turn on/off automagically.. really helps my 10yro Pyrenees get in and out of the trailer.. Its the only lighting I keep on.. dont screw with night vision nor attract a swarm of bugs. Ive got 2...

Why fenders instead of wheel wells?

gatekeeping much? a legit expo guy going to be packing on some serious miles and wearing out tires left and right, murphy's law is always in effect.. If anything a big 33in jeep tire is gonna do even more damage if it lets go.. just something to consider in the OP's question I hadn't seen...

Is AWD enough for deep beach sand? (Chevy Express AWD Van).

its more down to your tires than the drivetrain, but to answer your question.. I find AWD does better than 4lo because you dont really want your torque all geared up when trying to avoid wheel spin. if your on sand the important thing is recovery gear and a buddy, just about anything can get...

Why fenders instead of wheel wells?

I've seen a few campers severely damaged with wheel wells and having blowouts, I've also seen blowouts w/just fenders and it just takes the fender out.. Popups for example seem to put alot of vitals around the wheel well, electrical wires, plumbing, etc.. and all that got destroyed when they...

Say Goodbye to Your CB Radio

I've got one in my trailer, I dont see why not if it were smaller and less clunky.. mobile antennas are not really the best for a repeater and thats going to be the limiting factor in performance..

    Camper Trailer Recommendations

Checkout InTech, thats what I ended up buying and I friggin love it. I rented a taxa cricket and its nowhere near as capable as they look, way over priced on a cheap frame.. think I read a report on here not long ago guy took a taxa down the dalton highway and ended up abandoning the trailer...

Rivian announces all-electric 7-seater SUV w/ up to 700 HP and 410 miles of range

I've seen a Tesla in yellowstone, though im sure those $60/night electrical hookups cost him as much as my fuel bill for the whole trip pulling a camper. My problem with PEV is the recharge time, Ive driven nearly a half million miles in my life.. if I refilled every 400 miles or so thats more...

Electrical help please - lost and confused - calculating battery needs for uses

Many rear engine water cooled vehicles exist, there is no technical problem with running coolant lines from the front to the back.. your fuel lines likely run the same distance without getting snagged or hung up on things.. If you have frame rails you can do hardlines pretty easy.. I assume this...

Electrical help please - lost and confused - calculating battery needs for uses

those 12v heating pads are gonna kill yeh, any chance of putting the furnace in the same compartment as the water tank and using an open air intake from there to circulate air? also a diesel water heater can be hooked up to a heat exchanger with engine coolant and this will give you engine heat...

the counter top has a hinge and some hydraulic lifts so the original fridge could be accessed from the inside when it was closed, you can see part of it in post #3.. I have not taken any photos of this feature, should take some.. but yeah thats how I got easy access to the battery compartment...

Tandem or Single axle for Mud/Sand?

yeah do a single torsion axle if you need to go on a diet.. 600# is alot of weight when everything adds up.. really your doing it wrong, making a trailer to fit your TV is much much harder than getting a TV that can fit your trailer.

Tandem or Single axle for Mud/Sand?

mine is like 6x13.5, and entire thing is aluminum.. I think your going to find it very hard to build it under those weight ceilings.. I've got 1 lithium battery and 2x 7g water tanks and no toys in it yet for reference (just camping eq)

Tandem or Single axle for Mud/Sand?

I'm closer to 15% because toy haulers are tongue heavy, but its better to be too heavy on tongue (if TV supports it) than too light (10% is a minimum not a max).. my trailer is somewhere around 5000#, tongue is around 700# and the axles are both 3500#.. I need to take it to some scales this...

Tandem or Single axle for Mud/Sand?

I've got tandem torsion axles (dexter) and they are amazing off pavement, with all 4 having independent movement and shock absorbing capability its like it floats over rough terrain instead of rocking back and forth or bouncing around on washboard roads.. with tandem torsions however its very...

    Nobo 10.6 vs InTech explore

those Luna Rovers are really nice, the front window is just amazing.. but I dont get how your fine with luna low ceiling and not the explore? Might wait for the SOL, you can stand in it.. but I get it, if explore had a higher ceiling I may have considered it harder.

    Traditional RV modified for Overlanding?

I use 4lo mostly so I could idle up a mountain in 1st gear w/a 5MT, not for tracction.. without it was too much clutch feathering.. automatic vehicles usually never leave 2wd unless they do something stupid or come up with street tires.. there are no RV's going down the trails that absolutely...

    Traditional RV modified for Overlanding?

I think many people over estimate how much they need 4WD, when really they just need proper tires.. You'd be quite surprised how far you can get with 2WD, 95% of Jeeping trails here in Colorado never required putting my Jeep in 4wd.. and the few times I did were like black diamond trails where I...

with the reflectix in the windows its dark inside, you could nap in middle of day or sleep in easy.. all the canvas that is not the windows is basically opaque and so is the insulation.. but I dont mind, lights are really good.. without insulation the popout windows let alot of light in, open or...

Need help on picking a 3/4 ton

If you want a good deal on a truck you should settle your self to the fact that your going to need to fly to the midwest and drive it home.. or is importing a non-cali car into cali too much hassle? I've flown all over the country to acquire the vehicle I want at a price I'm willing to pay...
