Small 12v 100AH LiFePO4 battery system for use in a camper

for storage I discharge the battery to ~50% SOC, then pull my disconnect key out and then hookup shore power.. its just sitting idle outside in all temps.. the PD is providing DC power still so the lights and fridge still work.. Lipo's are fine to discharge below freezing, but not charge.. so it...

    Dreadlocks outfitting of InTech Discover

I havent been on calibrated scales, I used the bathroom scale method and came up ~700# IIRC.. its a lil more than I'd like but my air suspension does fine and im not loosing any sleep over it.. I put 1200# of tile in the hatch once and the bags managed to lift em up from loading position and...

Small 12v 100AH LiFePO4 battery system for use in a camper

Install the victron app on your phone, even if you dont have your BMV setup yet you can load up a demo unit and play w/config.. here's a screencap: I only see a threshold for SOC, I think the voltage relays reset once the voltage goes back over/under and the delay has expired.. all of these...

Coleman Gemini PowerPack - Alternative to large propane tanks

well thats why you dont buy disposable canisters in the first place, if its not the cost.. then why buy one that just leaks.. whats more wastefull, a lil steel tank or the rather harmful contents of it? they make smaller refillable LP tanks, you dont needa 20#er

I didnt change the letter mode, must put it in #8.. keep in mind as your doing all this, I did it a while ago and somethings may be a bit fuzzy.. right now my rig is burried in snow, so im not going out there.

Small 12v 100AH LiFePO4 battery system for use in a camper

I dont have BP set to Lion mode, it basically disables its internal voltage protection.. I use the difference between the BMV LVD and the BP LVD as my Reserve Capacity, I have the my BMV setup to drop at 20% SOC, and the BP is set to its highest voltage it will take, IIRC like 12.2v.. in my...

Small 12v 100AH LiFePO4 battery system for use in a camper

#7 is NC not NO, at least on mine.. when the relay triggers you want it to cut off the BP (open circuit).. but you can reverse this in software so I digress it dont matter much since IIRC the relay draws same power regardless of state, which is miniscule.. not even close to a parasitic load...

Small 12v 100AH LiFePO4 battery system for use in a camper

no, my original wiring had charge supply inputs connected to the hot side of the battery protect.. and the loads on the other side.. this was so when the battery protect disconnects the loads, I could hookup the charge supplies (fused) and get the battery protect to reset automatically.. I...

Small 12v 100AH LiFePO4 battery system for use in a camper

I had a sheet of pluck foam from a hard case I got from harbor freight, a layer of that fit perfectly on one end of the battery in the box to take up any side to side motion.. those disconnect terminals are nice, might get one for my riding mower. I am planning for an inverter down the line...

Best place to buy a fridge?

cheaper fridges consume more far more electricity and drain your batteries flatter quicker, which requires more batteries and more weight.. even the really nice fridges require decent battery and a reliable charge source to be happy with em.. this is one of those things that you get what you pay...

    Nobo 10.6 vs InTech explore

uh rest stops and wall marts encourage over night stops, I've overnighted in many of em.. popping down the side would be bad form if you took space from someone else with limited availability or otherwise blocked people in with it.. so popout over the grass or landscaping in those situations...

    Nobo 10.6 vs InTech explore

I've got a 2200 Honda and it runs the aircon just fine, I'm pretty sure a 2k would do it also.. The thing about tipout for us is provides quick and easy place to sleep, fully loaded.. like pull over in a big parking lot when you get tired, sleep for a few hours and hit the road again.. If you...

    Traditional RV modified for Overlanding?

IMO you dont need a 6in lift for beaches and mild dirt roads, just appropriate tires.. and then 2wd works just fine for most situations.. a 4x4 van w/good clearance is far more capable and can make it alot farther off the beaten path.. a lifted RV is just going to make you question if its worth...

    Redarc vs Ctek

your math is flawed.. there aint no 100aH traditional lead based battery that will charge from 50% discharge to full in 3.3h, regardless of your charger.. your looking at 3h of just absorb charging the last 20%.. and if your discharging to 100% its unlikely its going to fully recharge ever...

Milk Crates, never let me down, stack easy, survive decades of abuse and naturally drain dirt, water, etc out the bottom.. and also fits 7 gallon aquatainers and large LP tanks like a glove. I use em for everything from holding firewood to shoes.. makes packing up camp and loading up vehicle a...

    Traditional RV modified for Overlanding?

IMHO its hard to beat a good campervan, and making them capable of conquering most terrain is pretty easy and a well traveled path.. If your fine with minimalistic and clever living, space is tight. If you need the space/conviences of a Class C RV then perhaps you should be considering a...

    Traditional RV modified for Overlanding?

why not a truck camper? or campervan? My problem with these is RV's are already at the weight ceiling, poorly constructed and trying to get a decent suspension under them that's safe and comfortable is going to be a trial and error event more than likely.. not to mention the serious height of...
