Most affordable, fuel efficient 4x4 set up

I've never needed more power off road. The 4cyl YJ's seemed fine off road, it was on the hwy that......

Most affordable, fuel efficient 4x4 set up

Good luck. Watch your AFR's and EGT's when towing with that tune. That's half way to the power output per liter, of an F1 car without half the Rpm to cool pistons. F1=362hp/l @15 000 rpm. Ducati 1199 Superquadro= 208/l @ 10 500 rpm You're claiming 185hp/l @ 5000? Generally speaking, 50hp/l...

Most affordable, fuel efficient 4x4 set up

You better watch your EGT's if you add power to a small engine, in a heavy truck, and then tow/haul uphill. Bad idea. 300hp is plenty. Work trucks get detuned, so you can climb at full throttle without a worry in the world. Other than your water temp gauge. 13 second quarter miles...

    Opinions on truck/camper needed.

Capris 6.5' and 8' campers have the same layout, just one less seat, and less closet. That's why I purposely bought the shortbed, to reduce wheelbase. I've always found Bigfoot, Lance, Northern Lite, etc. type campers with the rear overhangs, to be more spacious. But it's a useless waste of...

Ram coming out with split tailgate?

The aftermarket retractable corner steps for the Ford are nice, if you're into that. Amp, I think. I just use my hitch and tires.

How Strict Are 4x4 Fender Coverage Laws in Canada, Oz, and Nz?

I recommend decent fender flares, and those hitch mounted RV towing brush like flap things, if you want to run MT's on canadian gravel. You're not going to make many friends otherwise, and the flappy thing can be removed for offroad.

Ram coming out with split tailgate?

Cooper and Maxxis make the best steps IMO.

Ram coming out with split tailgate?

I fail to see the point. #60 is where the spray in foam goes, to best rot out the door panel.

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Not really. If your truck come with them, cool. But I don't recommend seaking them out. IMO, the oem stereos are decent. But if your hardcore into that, you'll still need aftermarket. I might add a base tube, and higher quality front component group speaker. No big deal.

Newbie Question: how much wind does your hard side truck camper catch?

"Ford steering'' Reset the sector gear or replace steering box. Check joints and increase caster. Possible worn out steering shaft.

Newbie Question: how much wind does your hard side truck camper catch?

That's why I'm going custom. Basically everything, minus: fridge, stove, microwave, front window, and outside speakers. I'm considering skipping all of the up top cabinets as well. Really just need a bed, shower, sink, porta-john, and AC. Never need to cook inside. There's no fun in...

    Multimeter recommendations

Fluke is the only DVOM I use. Fluke 88, Fluke 189. The 88 actually saved my life 3 times (at least).

    Super Duty Power Wagon competitor

IMO, American cars and trucks have no warranty. If they do honor the warranty, the dealers tech will destroy the dash, both front seats, and the center console, just to warranty replace the infotainment screen. Meanwhile the porter will swing a dead cat stuffed with hammer heads at every body...

    Super Duty Power Wagon competitor

Why would you buy a ''Highboy'' Super Duty, only to rip the suspension out and replace it with Carli? Paying twice for OE components rotting in the Garage. Just get a regular SD and put the full Carli suspension on, and add a front locker.

Side ladders are stupid: CHANGE MY MIND

I'd weld one onto the tire carrier instead. There's plenty of times I have to swing my mirrors over, or around something. A side ladder wouldn't last any longer than my side women.

Newbie Question: how much wind does your hard side truck camper catch?

It's not bad. My Reading utility box is flat on the front, way worse.

Newbie Question: how much wind does your hard side truck camper catch?

You'll have to stay light with just a 150. Anything that overhangs the bumper is going to be bad like your motorhome. They aren't bad when you have twice as much truck as needed. Max the truck out, and it sucks. Check out Capri Campers. They're light enough. But you should beef up your...

    Barn door hinges

Side barn doors?: Open the door all of the way. Close it just a little. Grab the black sheet metal thing that catches the door, with a finger that you particularly don't need. Pull the black metal thing out about 1/4". Door should open all the way now, but that catch thingy should still keep...
