When we owned a landscape company our trailers/ trucks we use to use aluminum diamond plate. Most of the wear seemed to be on the tops of the diamonds (if that makes sense) and a quick wipe down with Muratic acid, wash and wax would make it somewhat shiny at the end of the season. Anything steel...
Sounds like its just a beater truck that your pounding out the miles for another few months to a year while the jeeps down just do the ATF trick and maybe change the oil a bit more frequently. Sounds like the engine is getting a bit old and showing its age. Seems its not really worth investing...
Glad I am not the only one that calls it pro-crap..........
I have been impressed with RE's quality in the past, I too echo others and hope it stays the same good quality it was before.
Dusted off the tubing bender out and bent up some tubing for a roof rack for the RTT. Failed on the first attempt of a hoop before I realized my copy of Bend-tech was still calibrated for the old bender.......oops:sombrero:
I know some coffee junkies on here will hate me for saying this.........instant coffee No grounds or filters to mess with or dispose of along the way
Just get water warm, sprinkle in a table spoon or so and poof. Despite being raised in Utah I do know its just not the same as the real deal but...
Although I do see the validity of the BPE issue and the occasional alegeric reaction issue I think in general people worry a bit too much......I see bigger ssues coming from impure water being stored in the tank or algae growth in the water system itself.
My two cents:
I wouldnt use plastic if...
First off if you used the blue wire tap thingy I strongly suggest you replace it with something else........they just fail too often (even in a dry location) IMO. Those little buggers are rampant in the trailer building industry and were constantly a source of grief! I hate them with a fiery...
I was talking to a friend about the 4.0 vs 4.7 debate tonight. We decided it either meant that it really didn't matter which powerplant you choose, or it was a result of 4.0 owners being envious of th 4.7/ 4.7 owners having an ego:sombrero:
Since I have nothing constructive to add (and I feel...
I know the 4.0 vs 4.7 debate often times becomes heated but I will throw in my two cents.........
After having a 4.0 I don't think they are as gutless as everyone makes them out to be. They do get winded a bit quicker on long hills but its still manageable. The 4.0 is generally known for being...
Not that I consider myself an "experienced one" but here are my two cents.......
Like others have said a TJ (or in my case a YJ) is a viable platform for 1-2 travelers for and extended period but however for 3-4 your going to be crammed for space.
Having camped with 3 adults and a hitch rack...
Finally got around to mounting up my Juice Box today and thought I would throw a few pictures of it up:
You can check out a few more pictures and a brief review on my blog:

I have flipped a few drop axles with no problems before. Only caveat is to make sure the axle is strait. Some axles have a "camber bend" in them....usually you see it in 3500+ pound axles.

I just stripped the Duraback liner off of my center console last weekend. I used rustoleum hammered paint. The light texture covers inperfections well, its cheap, pretty durable and is super easy to touch up if it gets messed up.

We talking the plastic style fuel cells, or the steel cased bladder style units?
Myself I have thought a few times about using a spun aluminum tank like an old fashoned hot rod.......
I just think they look cool.......and I don't see much of an issue with them being used for potable water once...
Looks like the few ideas I had are already taken, so nothing constructive to add:sombrero: I will definatly be keeping tabs on this thread as I prepare for my 2+ month trip this summer!
First thing that came to my mind. The rear trackbar on my YJ pops like crazy. (the bushings are shot and the bracket is half way amputated from the axle)
Funny story: This happened with a firiends TJ......his mechanic told him it was probably his dana 35 popping and it would likely be a $1000+...
I am really surprised to see what appears to be a total hack job! Those self tapping screws and bolts look like they are 1+ inches too long :Wow1: and the hack job for the pop top........well the craftsmanship speaks for its self........ I honestly think Bubba and Zeke would have done a better...
