Just a few things that have come to mind during my first few months with a RTT.....
Lighting-huge improvement! Makes life so much easier! A light for the ladder and the nearby ground makes those late night potty breaks a whole lot safer.
Somewhere to hang wet/ dirty shoes not inside the tent...
I have noticed that the headlights on my jeep seem to attract more bugs than the LED set up I have in and around the perimeter of my RTT. The LED's still attract a few bugs but not nearly as many as the headlights. The florescent lights in the family motorhome and propane lanterns were always...
winkosmosis thanks for that link! Made for an interesting read for sure.
I too had a K&N before I knew any better and like the others I either got dust past the filter or oiled the filter too much and killed an expensive MAF sensor.
I have always said if the K&N filters are so magical why does...
Really an apples to oranges comparason......kinda like saying a tire will pop just like a balloon when you poke it with a pin just because both are rubber.
Here is a vid of them driving their XJ over a flare:

I would argue thats a selling point......still cheap to lift and wont get death wobble as easily. Also you can add or subtract leaves from your leaf spring pack to dial in your ride in an afternoon for pretty cheap......coils cant do that.
Just stirring the pot. Ha ha ha ha I am bored...
If your not opposed to a four cylinder I would focus on these. I have bought two pretty nice YJ wranglers for under $1500.
First wrangler '92 YJ: ran like a dog. Had a loose intake/exhaust manifold. Every bolt was loose (common problem on the 4cyl and 6cyl) caused the engine to run like a...
I have installed those Buyer brand mounts on a jetski trailer. They are pretty decent in quality. Nice thing is they are lockable......now those blitz cans I have had much less luck with. They leaked no matter what I did. took 5 or 6 back to the store before I got one that only kinda leaked...
I do know that the lockout hub is a direct interchange with an exploder/ranger hub. Usually every visit to Tear-a-part you can find a locking hub or two. (usually for around $15-20) Lots of vehicles that had automatic hubs that failed were swapped out to warn hubs. May be worthwhile looking into...
I actually talked with a ranger about the trail in great length when I was camping near the trailhead a month or so ago............
The public still does have full access the trail. The trail evidently crosses over several tracts of private land and for some reason or another some of the owners...
Ha ha yeah sorry about that.........hope there are no hard feelings! I was actually expecting it to be long gone by the time I made it there! Nothing like a screaming deal to spur on a 350 mile afternoon drive :costumed-smiley-007 (I dont know why but all the good deals seem to be down in Utah...
Well i just picked up my roof top tent to put on my wrangler last week and I have been playing around with different mounting options...........so this is a question I was actually thinking of all weekend!
I have quickly mounted the RTT opening over the back, hood and both sides and this is...
I have spent my fair share of nights in a springbar tent. I think they are every bit as easy to set up as a dome tent. They really hold up well in the wind and rain and last darn near forever as long as you take care of them.
They are made of heavy canvas, so if your ever planning on packing...
Thanks Keith! Its in better shape than I was expecting for the price!
Thanks for the bracket set that makes the tent fold up thinner......you ought to consider producing them, really a cool product!
Cant wait to try it out next weekend:wings:
Gotta love a quick run up skyline! (I grew up in Bountiful and still love those hills even I have been up there hundreds of times) I wish I could say that the loud/ foul mouthed campers were a rarity up there........seems like I run into a similar group every time I am up there. Trick is to go...
Little trick on the ball joints if you have a welder run a nice hot bead on the ball joint (don't weld them onto the axle obviously:sombrero:) Welding causes the ball joint to shrink slightly and the heat seems to help them come out easier. (works well on stubborn bearing races too)
And if you...
Sounds like you are thinking of a quarter elliptical suspension set up of sorts. You would have locate the axle laterally as I it would walk side to side. A simple panhard bar would control the side to side.
Some rock buggies use to run this set up back a few years ago. There is next to no...
