    The old 1999 build thread

Short term report, so far so good. Need to adjust bumpstops a bit, new rear springs don't flex as well as the old ones either but I'll be replacing those later.

    Monty the 3rd Gen Montero

I think a lot of that has to do with wheel design and particularly passenger car wheels being used to party as this is where the majority of the internet breaks it's wheels. Of course if you buy cheapie guy thin spoke wheels they'll likely break. You can tell just by looking at some designs...

    Monty the 3rd Gen Montero

I'm guessing he spent his money on things to make the truck perform better instead of wheels. Instagram cred doesn't matter much when you're on the trail, reps look just as good covered in rockrash as anything else ?. The authentic Volks i wanted were $750 per wheel, Level 8's were $120 each...

Winch bumper for a 2003 Montero sport?

Mitsubishi only sold the first generation of Montero Sport here in the states, ARB still sells the bumper for it. 1997-2004, there was a slight change in 2000 and there may be some slight differences (grill being the main thing) but the frame and fenders are the same. The facelift Sport has a...

    GEN1 Radio

Some have a second antenna, diversity antenna in the back or side glass depending on the year. Not sure on the location or availability in the Gen 1 but it is the case for Gen 2 and 3.

    Outlander Sport Build

I vote keep it as well but take it windshield deep through a water crossing, that way when they ask you have a legit response. I mean isn't that the purpose of all this "overlanding" equipment to begin with?

Installed our new front skid plates (SURPRISE PA_JERO!) Still working on gear break in but we did hit the snow this weekend and rescue a snowed in retired couple (and pulled out 7 stuck 4x4's). Snow was pretty deep but Monteros powered through well enough.

So you want to put King shocks on a Third Gen Montero...

Compression adjusters in my experience are a sort of set it once and forget it thing, they're more for feel than anything. The novelty wears off pretty quick I opted out this round and just had Accutune do my valving (Amazing BTW). As for arms (and Kings for that matter) you really need to...
