Nice Dodge Scott. I have a 1986 1 ton 4x4 that I've removed the body from. Shortening it 30 inches in the center and 12 inches in the rear. Refitting an XJ body on it to be a tow rig for my other jeeps.

    Truck bed trailer axle question

The straight axle tube and electric brakes is what I'm looking for. To replace the Chrysler 8.25 that is usually found under the rear of an XJ.

    Truck bed trailer axle question

Jeff, do you have a source for one of these axles? I know I need to do some research, but any sources would be appreciated. I need one under a build I'm working on.

    Your Jeeps Name

Didn't see this so thought I'd start this off out of curiosity. Have you named your Jeep? Why that name? I'll start it off. "Red" plain and simple, Red is a 1997 red XJ. "ET" Can't say yet, he's a work in progress and it would give it away. 1999 Green XJ "Pebbles" a black 1999 TJ who in her...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Red gets updated... Been away for sometime, but back now. Red, my primary jeep got lots of upgrades this past month.Went from a 3" lift to a new 6" lift. Went from 31" A/T to 33" KM2's on soft 8s.Added a SYE with a Tom Woods Shaft. Replaced my tired yellow top Optima with a fresh one. Put a set...

    Screw Autozone

Manager or employee, he needs an attitude adjustment. I never had an issue even close to that with the local Autozone staff here in Simi Valley, CA. As someone mentioned, they are my go to store as well. I've been to Cottonwood. A manager or parts job would be hard to come by these days there...

Brand New To Me 1990 XJ (build and Question thread)

Good to see another XJ getting ready to leave the pavement. I suggest keeping an eye on Craigslist, Auto Parts section. I'm in LA but CL seems to always have some deals on sliders, bumpers, lifts, etc to be found. Might keep the wife happy as the build cost adds up fast! LOL!

    Tire Question

JKS makes a nice plate for the rear, part number OGS971. http://store.jksmfg.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=UNIVUBOLT&Store_Code=JKS01&Category_Code=Leaf_Spring Replaces the stock plate, then you can add stops to that easily such as using rubber ice Hockey pucks, also an option for the...

    Tire Question

I've experimented with several tire set ups and lift heights on my XJ. I've removed the factory flares and trimmed the fenders. I ran 33's with 3", 4", and 4 1/2" of lift and added bump stops. All will work if you have enough bump stop on the lower lifts. For my daily driving and my gearing I...

    Fire Extinguishers

That is actually a very wide and tight velcro strap from an old knee brace. Two self tappers and two fender washers trough the carpet and into the trans hump hold it in place.

    Fire Extinguishers

My passenger usually drives her own Jeep!:coffeedrink: We test fitted it and I got her approval first! Where it sits it's out of the way.

    Fire Extinguishers

Don't worry about it getting to hot. I've never had a problem with extinguishers due to heat. This is the photo of the rig that prompted me to upgrade and install my extinguishers. I like my rig to much to have this happen.

CB (cobra 19) / SWR HELP

Location is something to consider too. I put a 4 foot Firestick on our Jeep TJ mounted to the bumper with a Cobra 19. With only a soft top there was little choice as the wife didn't want to drill the body of the Jeep. Got it tuned but it worked like crap. With the tip being down low the Jeeps...
