Cut off the leaf spring and shock mounts and tacked together the trusses for a test fit. Seems OK, kind of interferes with the diff breathers. More work...

Damn straight! Worked on JBFP's 1983 Mighty Max exhaust today. I'm wiped, this week has been a lot of work.

    Parts washer In attached garage

Diesel will stink and follow you around. Not sure what we use at my shop but it's a yellow powder from ZEP, gets things really clean but is a little caustic as well.

With the special socket i was finally able to break those knuckles loose, it took some real effort. Full reverse of the ½ drive titanium Ingersoll, WD40 and lightly striking the inner C with a hammer the inner nuts let loose one by one. The left side of Kevin's has a wedge shaped shim under the...

Some of my little friends (PA_JERO & David) showed up and the parts pile grew today! We now have 2 sets of ball joints and master overhaul kits!

    Another shock question!

The worst part about KYB's is that they last FOREVER, so getting something better later kind of might not happen. I will say that if you've always driven cars and a Montero feels to you like it's going to roll over at every corner KYB's are the solution to that. They are pretty good if you do...

Gen 2.5 Heater Core Replacement - Tips, threads, pictures, etc

think about replacing the HVAC controler while you're in there because it's easier to do with the dash apart and not a real expensive part. I also replaced my combination switch, antisqueek taped and noico'd under the dash while i was in there.

...but PA_JERO dropped off his D44! So now we have DD44, two D's for double doses! Two trusses! Two 4.88 R&Ps! But only one axle stand *damn*. Parts are piling up and so is the work *sigh*

    GEN1 LWB 6G72 12V Engine Refresh

Leave the trans in, it's a cun* getting to the upper back bellhousing bolts but totally doable (get your curse words ready and learn some new ones). A long set of extensions and a nice wobble socket can work and so can a ratchet wrench after you break it free (wear gloves). You can use a ratchet...

Ha ha ha! That reminds me of the guy from the 4x4wire days that filled his rocker panels with liquid nails instead of having sliders made.

We'll train him, I hear he tackles things WOT. I'm more worried about the monocoque frame or whatever holding up, the sliders are definitely stronger than that.

    The old 1999 build thread

This type of discussion is great for guys doing research, fire away. You'll notice a couple if the regulars in the Montero world will pop into my threads and ask questions or poke me for more detailed information (even when they know the answers already or know better than i do). This all makes...

    The old 1999 build thread

I'm sticking with TRE's, no heims of any sort on this truck because steering/suspension slop and or rattles drive me crazy. I found some solutions for tie rod roll from Ruff Stuff so that makes the 1 tons more doable. Stock spicer shafts and unis for now, long term is upgrading to RCV's. I only...
