What's the story behind this Montero?

I keep thinking the same thing when i see these trucks for sale lately, the value of them is going up. They're not making any more of them and nice ones are getting less common, they're just at that age and people are finally buying them as enthusiast vehicles. It's a really good thing and it...

Small update, picking up the new Dana 44 on Saturday. Since PA_JERO and I are doing the same build simultaneously he ordered my axle/differential rebuild kit and gave me a new Yukon 4.88 gear set and i ordered our axle truss kits this morning. Parts are inbound! Probably going to buy some new...

Germán contact for parts, the closer to Ramstein the better.

Get yourself some Eisbrecher albums while there, they are kind of hard to get here for a reasonable price. I really liked Sünde but that's the only one i own, also get the German release of Herzeleid from Rammstein just because

Got a Gen 1 LWB, what now?

I need to stop cluttering my '99 build thread, made some real progress on the '91. Did a drain and fill on the diffs and T-case with OEM juice, sold the Aussie Crawler T-case to David because he needs it more than i do. Unfortunately I'm a dirtbag and didn't take any video but the...

Back to Mitsu with an 83 Mighty Max

Shaping up to be a real cool build, is it getting a turbo too?

Back to Mitsu with an 83 Mighty Max

Man, both the '83 D-50 and the '82 Mitsu Mighty Max were 2.6 Narrow block 3 speed automatics. I like those trucks a lot, maybe i'll get another Mighty Max one day when i find a clean example or a Gen 3 Pickup becomes available because i'd love a lets say 97-98 V6 pickup in a double cab...

    Mini Pajero Spotted

There is a Kei truck loop hole in some states where you can rego it as a street legal side by side basically, not really legal but pretty legal. I think it even changes from city to city so you'd need to really know your local laws.

Almost done with this simple '97 SR bumper for now, it'll be back later for more. Tomorrow I'll cap the frame rails, add light mounts and winch plate. Probably do some hoops and wrap the corners a different day. Also tomorrow i'll rebuild the rear suspension on my '91 and another friend's '96 LS...

Thinking about buying a '97 Rangie

For what it's worth i buy a lot of basket cases and neglected vehicles to fix mostly for fun, I find real satisfaction making old machines run forever. I also used to design automotive parts and I am a welder fabricator for a living so it kind of all just falls together being a 4wheeling...

Thinking about buying a '97 Rangie

It's $800, I'm pretty sure this guy barely changes the oil, I'll check for the rust I'm in Az and we really don't have rust but i've seen a few trucks come from up north or other states hiding rust. I run 265/70R17 Nitto Terra's on my '05 Montero and have been pretty happy with them i'd probably...

Thinking about buying a '97 Rangie

Thanks for the replies! Head gasket seepage, I'll watch for that and the air ride suspension (I hate air ride) I'll go dig into it a bit and do the usual driving tests to see if it heats up or does any weird stuff. It seems to be too nice of a truck for the money which is why i'm even...

    GEN1 V6 Engine failures

They are near indestructible, you need to treat it really bad to make it fail. Like overheat it really bad and keep forcing it to run with milkshake oil. Or more commonly rebuild it improperly, those motors are about idiot proof unfortunately we've made better idiots in recent years. The trick...

Thinking about buying a '97 Rangie

These things don't seem to be getting much love, i found one that really deserves a second chance. Are they worth fixing up to resell? I rehab Mitsu 4x4's typically and some Landcruisers but lately I've been looking at Landys and a few other bastards of offroad goodness to broaden my horizons. I...

Yeah I want to make it really pretty, it only has 111k miles and deserves to be loved. ...but first it gets maintenance love in the form of new everything.
