    Why buy a land cruiser?

interesting that he feels 100 series has a better ride and is more attractive than 200. They're both a bit too large and refined for my preferences so I will stick with older versions.

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

Wow! That makes a strong case for DIY.

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

I was bugging a colleague of mine to get a new timing belt on their UZJ100 since it was original with over 200K miles. They finally did it at 250K!

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

Well, there are a lot of "what ifs", for things that potentially could go wrong. Maintain your cooling system and bring along head gasket repair in a bottle, I guess. You could get an oil analysis to see if there's any indication of a leak. Leave the HG replacement as preventative maintenance...

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

Then sell it and buy a GX 470. I'd personally not worry about the HG until it actually blew, but that's just me.

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

Well, there's this too. https://www.autoweek.com/car-life/g35834918/top-vehicles-most-likely-to-reach-200000-miles/ My money is on the average LC to outlast the typical Jeep or Land Rover.

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

Here's a good write up on the 1FZ-FE engine. http://www.brian894x4.com/ExpeditionLandCruiserFZJ80engine.html "..As for longevity, the 1FZ typically lasts well over 300,000 miles when basic care is given to the motor. I've often read reports of engines being tore down with 300,000 miles...

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

OK, I guess you guys are right. Well, it seems too low for a Cruiser I-6 to me.

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

That's right, and 300,000 KM X 3 = 900,000 KM. That's about 550K miles, yes? This figure is per Beno, Cruiser guru on IH8MUD.

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

    No, it's 300,000 km X3 before a rebuild, so over 500K miles.

A great story of a stolen 60 being found!

That's a nice one too. Stupid tweakers didn't know what they had there.

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

What's wrong with cooling system? PHH replacement is probably a good idea. You could hire any old shop to do that, have them do fuel filter at same time, otherwise everything should be fairly straightforward and easy. Front axle may need to be rebuilt. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

    1963 Mog 404- ballpark what's it worth?

Pretty sure this is the model number. It has a straight 6 gas engine, nice bed, hard top, good seats, no rust that I could find. Has a blown head gasket though and one front axle looked to be leaking. Tire tread looks good but some cracking evident. I dont' know the mileage.

    Aloha G55 Build

Wow, nice rig. Thanks for sharing your story. Excellent move to get rid of those 22" wheels as they are ridiculous on an SUV. What is wrong with people?

FJ Cruiser or Tacoma for Touring

Yes, the bigger rear end began in 2010. Guess they decided the FJ was too heavy for staying with the 8". Friend of mine says it's a weak spot in this model. But then, he's a LC purist and doesn't like them. On that subject, IMO FJ is more similar structurally/mechanically to a 4Runner than a...

    older LC or newer 4Runner?

What came to mind for me with older LC was FZJ80 or UZJ100. I'd take either of those over any 4Runner, not that there's anything wrong with 4Runners. LC way cooler and most certainly has a greater degree of overbuilt to it. GX 460 probably the most practical, quality choice unless you've...
