One thing to consider is how much your springs are currently sagging. I bought 1 1/2 to 2 inch lift shackles for my TLC and they probably provided 1" at most over actual stock ride height with no adverse effects over many years.

Just noticed you're only considering a minor downsize-that probably won't do much. Truck is lifted a bit, right? That's a MPG loser too. Hey, I seem to recall warning you! ;)
Truck with stock size tires should get 16-18 mpg. At least, that's what my 3.0 auto tranny 4Runner with 160K miles gets. So yes, lighter wheels and smaller tires should make a noticeable difference.
Go to IH8MUD for the most info on the 70 series LC. They have a sub forum specifically for these. I gather that the L engine is pretty much a dog with not much HP or torque for a heavy wagon. Some of them have a bad rep for blowing up too.
Offset or backspacing? You can calculate either with a tape measure. RE: Nissan vs. Toyota, probably a rare exception but I actually preferred my hardbody truck to my Toyota, '95 vs. '92.
Either model will have a ton of electronics compared to an older LC wagon. The GX is sized more closely to a 55 or 60 then the 100 series though believe it or not, wider and taller.
You'd get a bit better gas mileage with it, a noticeably superior number to the old inline sixes. 100 series is...
Thread revival time! Guy posing the question went with a GX too. I've seen a few inexpensive 100 series come up for sale around here, but never a cheap GX. IMO, less of a general appeal for the LC. You've really got to be wanting something BIG to go that direction.
Nice that you got the 22RE and 5 speed. Why are you going with a lift and 33" tires for a DD? Looks like it has some large mudders already.
The big rubber, tall profile and heavy bumpers= real dog on hills. How many miles on the 4 banger?
"No Modifications. Period." Way to go! Man, I sure hope the new owner keeps it in this condition. A real beauty-really puts modern and all modified Runners of any year to shame, appearance wise. GLWS.
Congratulations sir, that is a real beauty. Looks brand new, like one from the Narcos series. If it were mine I would absolutely not make one single "mod" to it.
4Runner would have 50% better MPG, I think, and you probably don't need the extra space that the LC provides. One consideration with a 3rd gen is that you might be able to find a manual transmission, which would be my preference. I had a pretty nice 2001 with an auto. Didn't like the lack of...
Very nice. I like the documentation of work done to date, and also approve of the color scheme. Ditching the old carburetor engine won't get any protests from me, but the big HP replacement does prompt a question.
About how fast do you think one of these old wagons can travel safely, given...
