Actually looking at these tanks the spun aluminum ones look a lot better and might be a little less resistance (not like it matters much st this point)
Maybe like this
This is the 4runnee i would put the tank up against the back of the rack and move the box forward
We love our 4Runner but the range has been an issue on every trip. I usually carry 2 or 3 jerry cans on the roof but it's always kind of a pain getting them off the roof and using or filling them so I try to avoid it unless I have to. Plus I've had issues with them swelling and and working...
I like that too. I'll probably just copy that design and make one for the front. It would be nice to have some storage on the front of the trailer also. Seems pricey for that it is but I like the design.
We have a 15' jayco trailer and needed a place to mount our Honda generator. The bumper on the trailer is obviously designed to hold exactly that spare tire and no more, so that leaves a few inches of exposed frame to work with. I made a mount that I think should work pretty well. It's...
We've only ever had just the basic spot but after reading through this thread I went and looked through the de Lorme site. I didn't realize they offered so much and the prices aren't bad at all. Units look a little pricey though, is the only unit the explorer plus?
Our spot renews next...
Just curious, did your spot break or did the upgrade the system or something so it doesn't work anymore? We still have a gen 1 that we use, but haven't used it in a little while.
That's a good idea about isolating everything so you can completely shut power off to everything. I would think you could just use a normal battery switch like you can get from any auto parts store just to basically open the circuit when not in use and cut the power.
I looked into if we had a leak at all but even with the propane completely off and the system empty the alarm was going off. The trailer was unused and new so it didn't have any chemicals stored in it or anything and the water system hadn't been used.
So does the alarm shut the solenoid if...
We got a Jayco travel trailer last year and had constant issues with the CO / LP detector going of constantly. Im trying to find a battery powered replacement unit but every one I seem to find runs off 12v dc. Is there a reason they are all 12v, seems like a headache to have a constant drain...
Yea that's a good idea. The Ford vans are nice too because any dealership or mechanic shop will have no problem working on it and parts will be easy to find and affordable. Plus you have the added benefit of sharing most parts with the f250 and f350 trucks of the same years. They handle fine...
I was wondering about how big a difference the wheelbase would make. The 4Runner has always felt like it had a short wheelbase to me which has always been really nice offroading.
I think what I'll do is so short trips with both and josh see which I like better. First couple trips I'll...
Whichever vehicle I pull it with I definitely won't be trying to push it hard on the climbs. I usually just cruise around about 65-70 regardless even when I'm not pulling. I like knowing our truck isn't working hard on the grades and the way I see it, I'm in no crazy rush to get anywhere if...
Thanks for the reply. Both vehicles have the tow package and trans coolers. The trailer has brakes and both trucks have the wiring but I still need to buy a controller.
I'm mainly wondering if with all the weight always in the 4Runner if it would be better to pull with the Tacoma mainly...
We just bought a Jayco travel trailer that weighs around 3000 fully loaded that were going to start using on trips where we don't plan on going too remote. We have a 2004 4Runner sport with the v8 that has been our expo rig for the last few years and we have a 2015 Tacoma TRD sport.
I'm not...
I have a 2004 with around 200k and it still runs like a top. I have no concerns taking it on long remote trips. I'd say as long as maint. was done with stuff like timing belt, water pump, etc.. I would buy a "high" mileage 4Runner without worrying.
With higher mileage trucks I think maint is...
I know this is an old thread but I've been using the go pro mounts for my iPad and my garmin on thousands of miles and months of trips since this thread and I can say that I love the mounts. Even with the heavy iPad 1 it holds great, stays stable and the nice thing is when we're done with a...
The more research I do the more it looks like a deflector makes little or no difference in mpg. I'll still probably put one up there though since it seems like it makes a big difference with road noise and my 4Runner has a sunroof so I get a bunch of wind noise through that. I was also going...
