I don't see much 200 series here, any particular reason?

Well said. However, I think the newest 4Runner is better looking than the 200, and 2nd generation 4Runner is a winner in the appearance category compared to the 80 series. Also, a 1990 4runner is plenty comfortable for my aged body, so any advantage that a 21st century Land Cruiser has in this...

    Toyota Hilux

Is that the Toyota diesel engine with the horrible reputation? The truck would still be way overpriced if it had the well regarded 22RE 2.4

Is a Land Cruiser the right choice

An out of the box, stock Land Cruiser of any vintage is one of the coolest and most capable 4x4s out there. Don't bother modding unless you have plans for heavy duty off roading, or you want to look like a ************ driving a battle wagon around Orcas Island. :)

    So Many Cool Toyotas.....why?

I pretty much agree with what Lugueto said. The only thing we're missing out on is the 70 series-big disappointment- and other cool SWB jeep like offerings such as the Patrol. How many actual Jeeps did you see there? Probably not many. They own the US in the two door, SWB buggy market, sad...

    ExPo 70 Series Registry

Yeah, nice. But what's the deal with importing a 20 yrs old truck? Thought they had to be 25 years or more.

I don't see much 200 series here, any particular reason?

    200 series: Capability-Yes. Reliability-Maybe another Toyota. Price-No.

Land Cruiser FJ 40 gut check and a few questions

Define minimal. :) Short answer, almost certainly not in good mechanical condition. You should at least find one to test drive in order to satisfy your curiosity, and my recommendation would be a stock condition example. Few years back a young guy I know was forced into driving his dad's...

Some Frame Rust on a T100

Land Cruiser FJ 40 gut check and a few questions

#1-Pretty much rules out any Land Cruiser. It seems that most people selling them these days are really going for the throat, especially with the 40. #2-Pretty much rules out any FJ40 under $15K. #3-Probably. However, IMO 40 series is a poor platform for a family expedition vehicle because...

Interior size difference between an 80, 100 and 200 series?

Good idea. Nothing quite so important as driver comfort. The legroom number given for 60 series in post above is incorrect. It's significantly less than 42 inches. I would think that the interior size difference with the US Land Cruiser wagons could be stated with this inequality...

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

Need? No. Want? Nope. I tend to be a minimalist. Taking something that almost certainly won't be used has no appeal.

    Nissan Hardbody Overland Build

'95 single cab 4 cylinder here. I had 31's on mine for a few years. Now back to the 235's and am happy about it. Better acceleration, braking, accurate speedo-even prefer the appearance. 31's would catch fender just a wee bit on front end full wheel crank.

Totalled my 95fzj80... Looking for unbiased opinions of value to settle claim

OK, thanks. I was thinking of a friend's experience many years ago, when someone hit his POS Celicia. He got a check from insurance for about as much as it was worth, and also got to keep it. The rig was dinged up pretty good, but didn't affect its driving ability, so that's what he...

Totalled my 95fzj80... Looking for unbiased opinions of value to settle claim

You could take the $5K and sell it for a couple more, right? That's what I'd do.

Diesel toys- Toyota Diesel engine swaps

If my rig needed a new engine and the price was comparable to the stock gas V-6, I still wouldn't do it. Not a fan of the diesel stink, or the idea of searching for hard to find parts. With an old school, heavy duty clunker Land Cruiser, Rover, Scout, etc. the swap would be more appealing.

Anyone in an older Landy in Newfoundland now?

Careful, Cruiser owners may bite your head off over the (mis) use of that nickname. "Gawd damn it Jim, I own a Toyota- not a Land Rover!"

    Is a Unimog for me?

Most places in Alaska there's very little traffic, so we don't get much practice. :smiley_drive: I agree with the guy who suggested, in effect, when in Russia do what the Russians do-Buy one of the locally made beasts.
