    315mm Front brake upgrade

I'm sure I'll figure that out when my Gen 3 needs brakes, it seems there were a few different configurations.

    315mm Front brake upgrade

So with 37's armor and a winch I felt that I could use a little more stopping power and definitely more brake cooling so when the time finally came to rebuild the brakes on the 1999 Montero I went for an upgrade. Now this will apply to all Gen 2 Montero's 1992-2000 and is just as easily done on...

    Front LSD for FUSO

What is the spline count for the front axles into the diff? The front 3rd member looks very similar to the Montero rear 3rd 9.5" ring gear.

SONICMASD's 98 Montero LS Build & Adventure Thread: Black Betty

The Montero dash is mostly metal, other than having a hole in the dash and potentially creating an area to have a crack spread from (on the pad) one could drill and nutzert a pretty HD mount almost anywhere on the dash. Personally I would snake a bracket off of something solid under the dash or...

    '94 LS Wheel/Tire Questions

The camber is corrected with shims between the upper control arm shaft and tower, also the shaft has a thick and a thin mounting side so that comes into play as well. Be sure to run the least amount of shims as possible (try to get no more than 2 per side) and use the washer type if you can get...

    The old 1999 build thread

Yeah, I still need to bleed the brakes again and take it for a proper test drive. I did the break in procedure as per Powerstop and I now have quite a bit more stopping power even with the 37's. Haven't driven it with the 35's yet but PA_JERO is doing the exact same setup but with the standard...

New rubber! These are the new 35x12.5R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, pretty stoked to try them out. Went back to 35's now that the truck is built to handle 37's the 35's should be like nothing to it. Should be a very reliable setup with the 100mm CV's, polyurethane bushings, chromoly idler kingpin...

    Gen 2 Idler arm rebuild/upgrade

I have put them on Gen 1's (Gen 2 idlers that is), swapping the idler and pitman arm does change the geometry. There are some pros and cons of mixing and matching the parts, first off the full gen 2 swap is awesome and performs flawlessly. If you do just the idler and pitman arms your steering...

    Shock install Bilstein 5100

Thanks, I need to keep doing write ups so this information is out there. I'm really bad at remembering how modifications went being so many suspensions and engine swaps have past I don't want to mess anyone up. I work around things pretty quickly too so a minor problem to me will be forgotten...

    Shock install Bilstein 5100

Shovel is exactly right and the geometry doesn't change on the Gen 3 when you lift it so 4600's are used, the Gen 1&2 change in the rear with lift so we have longer shocks which can be had in a 5100 and these fronts to match stock. Very nice setups, eventually I'll get into 7100's (remote...

    Shock install Bilstein 5100

The Bilsteins come with larger bushings than stock, on PA_JERO's Montero we ran the supplied bushings simply by getting the nut started and gently compressing the rubber. For mine i thought I'd try the smaller bushings. Here are the Bilsteins next to a set of KYBs The lower bushings come...

    Gen 2 Idler arm rebuild/upgrade

The way the aftermarket parts companies work is they buy whatever stock from whatever supplier is cheapest, put it in their box and sell it. I've gotten different aftermarket parts from the same brand several times, I'm sure there are even some OEM idlers out there in different brands boxes.

    Gen 2 Idler arm rebuild/upgrade

Only OEM, The aftermarket assemblies are non serviceable of what I've found so far (i've bought a few). The aftermarket arms themselves are interchangeable and most of them are made by NOK, not that that part ever goes bad but if you already have a Moog lifetime idler like I have you can just...
