    Couple of questions about Monteros.

Very similar rigs, Toyota liked the Montero so much they copied a lot of it's features onto the 100 series much like they did with the Hilux to compete with the Mighty Max. The Montero is a very solid rig, the biggest problem is that they didn't hold their value so they tend to be very neglected...

Help needed diagnosing intermittent overdrive '99 Gen 2.5

Running and in Neutral? I believe Park does not engage the pump which could give you a false full reading. Or so I can remember.

So when it's a Timken from Japan it's branded Koyo? Or the Koyo plant makes the Timken bearings for Japan?

    Stuck crankshaft pulley bolt

If it's a red thread locker deal some heat will help, bot so much that you burn everything. On your umpact gun, what kind of gun and air supply are we talking? Could be that you need more grunt.

Got the Montero bug need help

PA_JERO has one, maybe he'd let you ride in it to see if that's a truck you would like. They are a lot of fun.

Got the Montero bug need help

They pop up now and then, a USDM usually runs between 4-6k and the JDM 6-12k. The US ones are all swaps unless you find one of the fantastically rare 1983 (1984 model) diesel Monteros and the JDM's just watch the date code on the ID tag. Go by the manufacturer date not the year model and look...

I meant the normal Montero Diesel because that just goes and those trucks are legal in the states now.

Got the Montero bug need help

Take a few on test drives, try the Montero as well. The Sport is based on the Mitsu Pickup and the Montero is the Pajero obviously, they are very different vehicles. The sports are much lighter and SPORTY! both are great rigs though. I live in the east valley if you happen on one you'd like to...

quick question about the ADD bumpers

I have some cool ideas for Gen 3 fronts too, right now I'm limited by the tooling I currently own but I would love to build one with really soft lines, rolled edges and big extruded fog light holes like the Lancer Evo 4. I can do this kind of thing at my normal job but I'm not allowed, I wish I...

    The old 1999 build thread

2 reasons, the 17's don't fit over the hub AND they are really shallow. They don't come in the offset I need, Lloyd runs them too with his steelie 17's. They hold up just fine as much as I hate them, on the plus side when the tire shop snaps off a wheel stud they are easier to replace.

quick question about the ADD bumpers

Well my Gen 3 will get a rear bumper but we haven't even sold 1 Gen 3 skid plate yet, we'll see how it goes. Gen 3 bumpers are a pretty involved deal because of the monocoque frame so unless some demand shows up it would just be a labor of love (like most Montero stuff) and I'm only willing to...

    The old 1999 build thread

Back to my rust free machine... New parts! Got my carbon pads installed with new brake caliper boots and my 4:1 transfer case came in the mail yesterday! Unfortunately Tom Woods is on vacation until the 10th so I have to wait on my rear driveshaft. Brakes installed and IFS nearly ready to...

    '94 LS Wheel/Tire Questions

No, and you probably won't be able to use those. Your truck is a transitional year and you very likely have the Gen 1 length torsion bars. I have brand new springs and basically everything you need to rebuild your IFS when you're ready. Since you have the 12v engine i imagine your truck was...
