Toyota owners: I'm looking to switch, and am willing to be convinced!

No, I'd say Land Cruisers are not common and less of a match for a Montero than the 4runner would be. Try driving the models you're interested in to get a sense of what you'd like. The LC V-8 engine found in the years you're looking at is not easy to work on, from what I've heard. Big bucks...

My Comparo: Old Taco vs. LC vs. 4Runner

First qualifier precludes any Land Cruiser ever made, or any kind of relatively new Toyota. Good choice with the older 4Runner.:)

    Fuel milage???? 80 and a 100

I fail to see the point in quibbling over 10 MPG vs. 12 MPG. Either way it will be the worst you've ever experienced. Unless, of course, you've owned an older Land Cruiser.

    Seriously Considering a 2006-2007 100 series

No, they don't. At least the not the newer ones. Looks is about the only category the Rover wins vs. Cruiser.

Overland Journal: 1995 Range Rover Classic

That model is a nice looking truck. There are a handful of them around here in semi beaten up condition. I gather the door handle hardware is second rate on these, as the ones I've looked at have at least one that is broken or non functioning.

Alpine Wanderings in the Shulaps Range (BC)

Nice photos. I fondly remember driving through the Fraser river area a couple summers ago. It's a beautiful area. BTW, I believe the glacier you referred to as a pocket glacier is more commonly referred to as a reconstituted glacier, or glacier remainie.

    2000's-ish 4Runner for Expo Build?

Then toss the build list and keep it stock. Other benefits will be better gas mileage and more power. With the sunroof these trucks are a bit shy of head room for a tall person, but otherwise are plenty roomy.

They Went Without Me so I'll Go Without Them

Nice photos. And now, the Exit is also an appropriate name for it's diminishing status.

91 LC: Are they really this slow?

Yes, for your budget I would look at a 4runner, though the second generations aren't much faster than the truck you're looking at. Zj80s are grossly overpriced for what you get, namely high mileage, gas guzzling rigs that commonly have overheating issues. The 80 you're looking at might be OK...

Potential damage from low oil in a 22RE...?

Probably burning it. Doesn't have to be blue smoke coming out the exhaust for that to be happening.

    RV trip through Alaska

Great photos. You chose a good time to go: After most of the tourist rush, before winter sets in and during fall colors.:)

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

How many miles on that beast when it suffered cardiac arrest?

Maybe sell the lifts and go back to stock?

To Drawers or not to Drawers

Platform with bins would be more flexible and less expensive. Save that money for a new head gasket.:)

    2017 Wrangler to be Unibody...

Bah! There are enough trucks in circulation with solid axles and ladder frames to keep the off road crowd busy for a few more centuries, or at least until we're cooked by climate change. Just use them for what they're designed for, the miles won't rack up, and they'll last indefinitely. Guess...

Why Your Next 4WD Should be a Right Hand Drive

Well constructed article, with good comments both here and at the link. Ferrari's recommendation for the stronger hand being on the wheel while shifting was a bit surprising. As someone else said, maybe for a race car without power steering, but ? Anyway, I'm left handed and my next 4x4 will...

Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

Love the old Toyota trucks, especially in this color.

Favorite "silly" little detail on your Land Cruiser?

Ah, right your are. But it's just etched into the wheel with no color change or any other feature to make it stand out. These are better!

    BudgetBuilder 4runner

Wouldn't do it. All that effort for a cold one? If you do, it might be worth some payback in a beer commercial.:coffeedrink:

I'm digging the Jimny in the first post. Wish they sold those in the US.
