I'll roll under the truck when my wife gets home. I had to bend a few things to fit oversize spares under my old 4runner too. So I'll see if that will work on the GX.
My mother has 23X,XXX miles on her 99 UZJ100. I drove it from Maine to South Carolina and back with no worry. My GX470 has 134k on it and I expect that we will see the same mileage with it.
for less money you could add a clutch pack rear diff and install the center diff lock switch (if it is an auto). If it is not an auto, you can add the 20kg center diff and be pretty well off.
The E load Duratrac in 265-70-17 is 6lbs heavier than the C.
Also I rub full lock with the 265, (OME 885's up front) so just note that before you get into a wider tire.
Depending on the actual tire you have it will vary. Snow tires typically have a soft compound and will wear quickly on pavement and dirt. You really want a good solid sidewall and tread base. fortunately with the advent of the CUV there are some decent options for SUV tires in small sizes...
I have carried a small generator in the trunk of the subaru before, I don't see a problem with what you are proposing. If you leave it overnight crack a window.
