A lot of talent on display here. Impressive.
Be careful with the hitch on the rear bumper, could be a real shin knocker. How high will the counter top be. That is where I ran into most of my design problems. Going with the same fridge helped lower the counter some, but would like it a...
I would agree that they have a shorter lifetime than a solid piece of steel, but of course I still have trailers on the road built 25 years ago that are still working just fine. Time to move on with the antiquated thinking. These axles are as near bullet proof as you can buy. US Military, All...
What gauge is the tongue?
Here is an idea, see if you can find a piece/even pipe that fits tightly, with a thicker wall. drill a hole for a bolt to slide through on one side, put a nut on and weld. Slide piece of steel/pipe inside, tighten bolt down on it. It will stiffen the tongue, and...
Will be in Ouray in July, any chance I could see this monster?
You cheat, as stated before. But it is some really neat stuff. Doing a great job as always.
I think you could check with the Expo and they could tell you what vendors are showing up. My guess quite a few. And there will be a lot of home grown there, that are worth the look. Some will be parked close to the expo, take your time and find something that fits what you are looking for...
Nothing quite as fun as seeing something you designed, labored over and finished on the road doing exactly what you wanted it to. It really looks good man. Very efficient comes to mind.
If you take a look around at all the major trailer manufacturers you will see they have gone away from windows on the front of the trailers, especially toy haulers. Due to the twist in the frame and the cost of making it water proof. I have one on my first Tear Drop, it worked fine until I had...
Having the fenders where you can walk on them adds so much more use to them. I have a small box on one of mine, but still can walk on it. Makes using the roof rack far easier.
I think the resin is a great idea to. Anything to keep the water out. I use about 20 tubes of silicone on every...
Yes that is the area of concern, and I have seen trailers break right there. The tongue is the main piece to be concerned with, the side rails stop twist so to speak, by running the tongue to the cross member behind the circled area you relieve a lot of stress and tie the trailer more together...
That sucker is looking good man. Any way you could get some more red on it?
I had wondered what happened on the trailer, but forgot you live in the land of snow snakes.
Anxious to see the development and the awning in action.
I like that you used steel on the inside of your fender. One of the most dangerous areas for our type of trailer. Picking up a rock and wedging it between a tire and piece of plywood, the plywood is going to lose every time.
I appreciate the effort you are making on this trailer. Few have...
Wingnut,
Trailer looks great, quality is fantastic, but I have one concern. Your tongue is totally depending on the welds to where it attaches to the main frame, IE the ends of the triangle to the main frame.
Please do not take this as negative. I maybe all wet on this, but from the photos...

See Carveacre Trail video.
This shows numerous areas where the tongue of the trailer hits, front cross bar hits and rear bumper hits. 35 inch tires, roughly 20 inches of clearance. I have ripped holes in my water tank before I put skids under it.
Now I use...
You could put a yellow decal, beware of falling propane tank. That would get their attention, most likely get a wide birth when they tried to pass you. lol I doubt the Highway Patrol would see the humor in it though.
Looks like single mount point, meaning jus the bottom. Be sure the frame is strong enough to support it when open, I would guess the back bumper would need to be 4X4 and 120 wall to survive over the long haul. You have a short angle for departure with the trailer so the tire really should not...
Most of it looks like surface rust. Not normally worth all the effort you are talking about. Plus it will get a lot heavier. If you are concerned about strength, go with 1 1/8 plywood. Clean it up as best you can. If it is truly rusted to non use, trying to weld it will be a major PIA. The...
That is about the cleanest thing I have ever seen for mounting a bottle. You are the man. I will be doing that very soon. Thanks a million Zuk, I have struggled with that part for years. I am not paying 200 bucks for a strap, that will break on the first hit.
My only concern on the door, which looks great is the 110 coming in. Meaning in the rain that door would be open. I would try to put the 110 outside the box, so it does not have to be open for it. It looks clean for sure, but might develop into a problem down the road?
You can use black pipe for it along the outside of the frame to save on copper. If possible I would run it on the inside wall of the frame, above the axle and as close to the floor as possible. Less chance of it getting drug across a rock or stump. Your doing a great job on this trailer...
