Hi Bajasurf, I am looking for some place to hang for part of the winter as they are getting way too cold for me in Kanukistan. I am doing a triple desert (Mojave, Joshua, Anza Borrego) run in mid to late Nov 09 and will be pretty much as far south as I get. Wondering if you want some company to...

    Manifold Cooking

zukrider said it right on, the gap may prevent enough heat to cook anything. Although it will warm up things nicely or thaw frozen items easily. I cook stew all the time and with double HD foil around it, folded joints and tightly wired to the manifold it cooks easily on my diesel 1HZ...

    Manifold Cooking

Dave, that will certainly heat them up but don't count on any cooking in the basket. Manifold cooking works partially by circulatory/convection heat but mostly by conductive heat.

    Handheld CB

As I said in your other thread on the same topic, Cbs have very limited range and hand helds have even less range. GMRS/FRS have more range than CBs, some up to 10-20 kms vs. CBs at 1-5 kms at best. Freak/ideal conditions, CBs can get over 5 miles but rare and don't count on them.

    California State Park Closures

So, no matter the outcome, if a park is closed does that mean just no ranger/warden station, info booths, etc. or no entry to the park at all?

    Manifold Cooking

BTW, your ARB compressor might get a bit warm installed where it is near the manifold, just a thought?

    Manifold Cooking

I too have cooked on my manifolds, but not with any gadgets, however they are quite unique and handy. My method began with HD tin/AL foil and doubling it just in case. Depending on what you cook, say beef stew: put your one or two portions of cut stewing beef (as much as you want to eat at one...

Chasing Hot Springs across the desert: Full report (long + lots of pics...)

Hey Martyn, Excellent trip report. Only suggestion is you might add your photo of the little critter that Bob found ("Bob found this little fellow on the ground!") on the way back from a nature call at Double Hot Springs, I think you may have forgotten to upload it. My version is attached...

Muchos gracias por los Kudos, amigo! I have one as well, walls are a bit thin but we can get them from Wal-Mart or Crappy Tire here in Kanukistan for about $6.99 CDN.

Would have loved to pick these up in person along with a bunch of other OZ gear, but then the plane might not have made it home.

    Shoe bag for Eezi-Awn?

Just a thought, what happens if it rains? Do your shoes stay dry hanging out in the weather or is the tent fly over that part of the tent?

New Seat Covers Well I finally got them from OZ. Checked out all the seat cover manufacturers in Kanukistan, Yanksville and S. Africa and found none that would guarantee a fit, or the shipping made the purchase prohibitive. I checked out the Hawaiian company and Slee's, and Spector's, etc...
