Custom Tundra Bed Storage: Phase 1

Jusy came out of 10 days in Death Valley and had a chance to test out lockers and new gears. Dramatic difference in traction and handling. Was able to get over a bunch of wheels-in-the-air terrain I would not have tried before. Towed trailer down as base camp and transmission was way happier...

Will get this thing put back together today. Very excited to give it a test run once I get some hours on it. Had a several day delay. Had to send the Auburn unit back as the internal splines were bad on one side and the axle would not fit in. One side fit like a glove. The other would not...

SOLD *** JET TENT F-25X by OZ TENT - Reduced Price

Really Nice tent. I have an Oz tent (the old "30 second" tent) and would like a bit more room. This clearly has it. Does it set up like the smaller Jet tent F25 (without the new annex)?

Custom Tundra Bed Storage: Phase 1

I'll keep you posted. As soon as I get everything installed heading down to Death Valley for a couple of weeks of off road play in early March. Should find some opportunities to see how it all works.

amo Zidaro did a Tundra build and has a fabulous section in his build thread re: adding 4.88's and a locker set up. The gearing/locker section begins: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/50656-10-Tundra-CrewMax/page18

Great build and tutorial!!! Thank you. Looking forward to hearing how this all works out for you. I was inspired. Placed my order today: 4.88 Nitro gears Rear Auburn LSD (decided this rather than ARB for practicality reasons) Front ARB Air locker.

Custom Tundra Bed Storage: Phase 1

Thanks for the kind words. This has been a fun project and inspired my what many others have shared on the Portal. Today, as my final project, I ordered 4.88 Nitro gears and ARB lockers. With the all the weight (and the towing I do) I think these gears will help with the transmission...

    Onboard Water

The tank was expensive, but this is one of many examples of getting what you pay for. The tank holds 38 gallons. It had two internal baffles (highly recommended on larger tanks) and different size threaded ports for water level gauge, vent, fill, cleaning and two exit ports. Since it was a...

    Show your fuse block/relay installs

Because I had to put the second battery in the bed of my Tundra (just isn't room that I could find in the engine compartment), I build a second electrical system box for the rear of my truck as part of a larger bed build-out...

    Onboard Water

This may be overkill for what you need, but I had a tank built by Adventure Trailers that fit perfectly in the front end of the bed of my Tundra. This was part of a significant storage buildout of the bed area...

    Expo 40 Series Registry

My then-NEW 1968 40 A friend just sent me this photo he took almost 48 years ago of me in my then-new 1968 rig. Ah, good memories. This is an area that is now known as Thousand Oaks, CA. All streets, neighbors and generally paved over. What I would give to have had the sense to keep the 'Cruiser.

Solar Panel I would think so. With a sheer strength of over 400 lbs per stud, it should work pretty well.

Answer to how wires runs were hung Several people have sent PM's asking how I hung long runs of relatively heavy wire (1 gauge). These runs were under my truck from the engine compartment to the electrical system in the bed of the truck. The photo below shows the wire running along the front...

Hard to tell from photos, but is it possible to reinstall the fender flares that come on the truck?

    Kitchen Kit/Chuck Box

It is largely aluminum. The only steel parts are in the frame of the slide out sections (and the wheels and bearings). These support 1000 lbs each at full extension so they needed to be pretty beefy. The other pieces are all aluminum.

Great ideas and builds I have been following this thread for a while and I am continually impressed with the great ideas and execution. I thought I would share my kitchen build which has been part of bed storage project I have been doing for about a year...
