Hey, thanks for the info. I wrote to the guys where you got your parts and asked for some prices. Still going back and forth between locker and LS for rear. LS sounds like a good way to save some $ and would meet most of my needs
And thanks for identifying the warm water location. I lived in...
Fabulous Build
zidaro
I have been following your build thread for over a year. It has been a great source of information and inspiration for my Tundra build (see: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/136352-Custom-Tundra-Bed-Storage-Phase-1 ). Really nice work.
Next step for me is...
Yes. There is a 2 gallon Extreme Outback tank mounted to the frame under the bed. All of the airlines to and from the the tank are also wrapped in heavy protective plastic sleeve. I have accidentally punctured the lines with rocks flying around off road before adding this protection. Not hard...
I use a zip tie as well when using the tent on my trailer. In this application...which is only a few feet off the ground....the standard ladder works fine. It is only when it gets upwards of 7' that it becomes a bit unstable. I imagine your 500 is almost this high as well.

I wish I was running around in the Caribbean!. It was 7 below 0 here in Bend last night. Good for Mike!
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I think I recognized in my first post that no one-size will fit all with the ladder and that you were attempting to design something that...
Parts list / instructions
As follow up, here are the instructions for the Harken system. There is a very helpful diagram of how this works and the parts needed. Again, you can substitute larger blocks and stoppers to increase the capacity o the system...
I responded to another thread in this section and thought I would start a new discussion as this is a common issue.
Since others have done a good job of discussing pros and cons of rooftop tent, I won't get into why I am a RTT convert.
What I would like t offer is a really easy way to move...
Easy way to lift, move, store your RTT
Since others have done a good job of discussing pros and cons of rooftop tent, I won't get into why I am a RTT convert.
What I would like t offer is a really easy way to move your tent. I used this system to move a Eezi Awn 1600 from my truck to...
A computer would seem to be preferable but it sounds like my options with a mac are either to use CHIRP or do it manually. I'll dive into the manual when it arrives and see what I am dealing with with the 7900.
Thanks craig333. I have looked at the RT software and it appears to only work with windows computers. I have a mac so unless I am missing something (which is completely likely in light of my lack of understanding about this stuff) I may have to either do it manually or try and figure out...
I am purchasing a Yaesu 7900 for my Tundra. I have had a General license for 10 years or so (had to do the Morse code test) but have only used it in the marine environment for a couple dozen regularly used net frequencies. I had a huge ICOM unit on my boat that came pre-programmed from the...

Thanks for the Welcome!. I looked at a number of front/rear bumpers and deciding on Expo One was easy. Great people to deal with and great product. As much as I asked, they were unwilling to take-on another tire gate project just yet. Building a one-off and producing something that they...
I suppose since this falls within the category of "storage" (and because several members PM'd me with request for photos) I thought I would also show the spare tire carrier I had built for my Expedition One rear bumper.
I had wanted Expedition One to do the tire carrier as they had done a...

Thanks much.
The internal rack comes off with the shell, but is modular so it can be removed from the shell if I want. I have a lift in the ceiling of my garage for moving the RTT from my trailer to my truck. I also use this to remove the shell (after first disconnecting the water...
Yeah, not an inexpensive build. I learned the hard way in our years of sailing adventures that it almost always pays off to buy better gear and use better materials whenever possible. It took over 18 months to do this build, I used a lot of parts that I already had from previous projects and...
Thanks
Thanks for all the kind words. Much of what I built into the rig was based on what I have learned from others on the forum.
For fun, a couple more photos of the truck in the Owyhee Canyonlands area.
Tundra storage system
I probably should have posted here. Sorry.
