    Expedition Overland 2013 Tacoma Build

I really appreciated that they spent time with the locals, and learned about the people and places. There are a million videos of people crashing up capable 4x4's. I think the storyline seems genuine and better than any "reality" show I've seen in a long time. If it's not a little boring at...

    Tires recommendations

BFG and Duratracs are both really good. Hankooks are a little thin in the sidewall, but are a great performer and value. (I put these on my work trucks) I don't know about other brands, but I have three trucks, one with BFG AT's, one with BFG MT's (KM?) and one with Duratracs. The duratrac is...

    One Spare Tire or Two?

I went to a tire shop that services big equipment and bought some really big patches and a jar of the tire cement. Its amazing what you can do with big patches, glue, and a tube. Whether you run one spare or three, you should make sure you are versed in patching.

    The best adventure travel boots.

Its a shame they don't have a rebuildable soul on Asolos. The leathers last forever, so you end up throwing away a perfectly good boot because the bottoms wore through.

Any benefit to remote reservoir shocks?

After you have been on a rough road at a pretty good clip you might start to feel the suspension get choppy with monotubes, if not, you probably don't need remote reservoir shocks. If you start to notice choppy ride, stop and feel the shock body. If it could burn your hand its working too hard...

    Cold Weather Shelter

You can do propane heat in a rooftop tent but it isn't advised because of all the humidity it creates. 1 pound of burnt propane creates one pound of water vapor. This water can collect in the betting, clothing, footwear and make life miserable. It can also create mold and mildew problems for the...

    GY Duratrac issues

My E Duratracs "squirmed" and didn't seem to track very well at all until about 1,000 miles, after that they feel great. Make sure you have them aligned properly by a true alignment shop - not walmart!

First ever bike, very overwhelmed, leaning towards KLR650 or GS ???

GET A 250! If you get a big bike, you will learn to ride defensively, meaning you will ride scared and be learning all sorts of bad habits. Some of these habits cannot be unlearned, they are survival habits. If you get a little bike, you will start learning how to ride aggressively, this has...

Misrepresentation of AutoHome roof top tents

That is an extreme take on the matter. It would be like me saying that you are misrepresenting roof racks because your site includes pictures of roof racks that you don't actually sell.

Misrepresentation of AutoHome roof top tents

Mike S., the only crime here is that you haven't offered up an apology to Wade at OAO4x4.com. To say that Wade is misrepresenting or being dishonest to consumers is absurd and completely ignorant of the way he does business. Others, I can tell you from experience that Wade is the guy to call...

    What to pack? ...

My wife takes a journal and records each day, time we got up, the temp, where we went and all the funny or interesting things that were said or done. She then logs on to Shutterfly and creates a book from the photos and journal writing. If the trip is 5 or more days, it gets its own book...

A new twist on bed mounted RTT's

If you can put toothpaste on your toothbrush, you shouldn't have any trouble wire welding  I'm anxious to see how this turns out!

    What to pack? ...

Eezi-Awn is very high quality. I would highly recommend a RTT that has a full size lower annex. It makes for a great place to change clothes, keep a port a potty, watch movies, and cook or hang out in bad weather. It also works well to have a little buddy heater down there to heat the tent and...

    What to pack? ...

A heavy duty wool blanket makes for a nice place to set a kid down if the ground is harsh, with that, an awning or sunbrella for shade. Make sure you can shade the car windows that are closest to the child. Portable DVD players are good for everyone, kid movies in the car, and grown up movies...

    Tacoma vs Silverado/Sierra 1500

I would say Silverado if you're keeping your other Tacoma. I like them both, and have both in my work fleet. The Tacoma handles better off road, and the chevy's seem to go in the shop more often for little things. If handling and reliability aren't the key factors, go for power, room and comfort!

Gearing Question for 2.7 5spd Tacoma

4:88's it is!! With ARB lockers:drool: So now, am I better off sending my diffs to Marlin Crawler or Inchworm to set up the gears and lockers?, or should I try it myself? I'm not very comfortable with any shops here doing the work. I've never set up gears or installed lockers, but I am...
