The Ursa Minor Modern Shell/RTT Concept Thread

If the tent material is stout like eezi-awn I'm in. Integrated rain fly and plush mattress get my vote. I've been so close to pulling the trigger on a flip-pac, but the shape and tent materials just prevent the purchase.

I think it needs to be the solstice, then I can request time off for religious reasons ;)

    007's Expedition Build

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment! I'm from Helena, the wife is from Superior, where did you live West of Missoula? Did you Autocross the BMW? I had a 76 SR5 Corolla coupe that I raced a few years back. As far as the tent and cold, -20f is the coldest I've seen, I hunt with this setup so...

    007's Expedition Build

Forgot to answer this, the answer is no. Not yet anyway, I wish I could just snap my fingers and try a few gear sets first. The 4:30's are giving me excellent fuel mileage in 5th gear, but any hill or headwind puts me in 4th gear. I think 4:56 or 4:88's would "feel" better, but my mileage would...

    Kalispell/ whitefish area RTT dealer

This company is located in Helena, MT http://www.oao4x4.com/ I am considering selling a used EEZI-AWN 1400 T-TOP if you're interested. I also build custom racks out of tubing if you need something fabricated.

    007's Expedition Build

The RTT does affect wind noise, it isn't terrible, but I notice it for a bit. The drag doesn't seem too bad either, I think much of the wind has already been deflected upwards by the cab. The biggest thing I notice is the weight, and where its at. The tent and rack aren't over 300lbs, but its...

Handling Rough and Washboarded Roads at Speed

This may not apply to a 1996 land cruiser.... I know that removing swaybars on IFS vehicles drastically improves the ride on washboards. The sway bar links the two sides and one pot hole sends a shock to the opposite side. When you unlink the two sides they can act independently and the ride...

I Agree with TACODOC! Sure I can go other places to discuss political happenings, I can even debate economics with my 5yr old but..... Can we really consider ourselves friends if we don't care to share or hear each others opinions? I understand that political diatribe can degenerate, and it...

Black Rifles are Evil and Thuggish

I've been researching this topic recently to see if Switzerland would be safe place to travel. What you quote from Wiki is misleading, the government stopped giving people ammunition to store at home, but you can still buy ammunition and have ammunition in your home. Courtesy of the Wiki: Most...

Do you have too much crap in and on your rig?

Stand back and look at this group. Some people take a Rubicon for a weekend to crawl over rocks. Some live in vans full-time, they don't even own a home. Others are navigating the globe while home schooling the kids... Good tires, and vehicle maintenance are probably your best ROI. The only...

Am I crazy? I am lusting after a 2013 2.7 Tacoma regular cab, but is it healthy?

Its a tough one! Is there any chance you are going to modify the vehicle? Large tires, winch bumper, roof top tent etc.. I ask because the awesome little 2.7 might get overtaxed if you start building the truck up. Just a consideration, my 2.7 01 has all that, and I still love it, but it is...

Am I crazy? I am lusting after a 2013 2.7 Tacoma regular cab, but is it healthy?

Cool, you might check that back seat for fitment of the Child seat first. My 06 access cab is horrible for fitting car seats, its actually impossible to comfortably and safely fit the forward mounted seats. Think long and hard about the DBL cab before you rule it out ;)

Am I crazy? I am lusting after a 2013 2.7 Tacoma regular cab, but is it healthy?

Tacomas I've owned: 2001 reg cab 2.7 5spd - awesome truck, solid, nimble, simple and fuel efficient 23+ if i drive slow - highly rec. 5spd w/this motor (my favorite truck) 2006 DBL cab 4.0 manual - good truck, not a huge fan of the tranny, motor has more power than needed, and less fuel...
