Talon skids look much better than the alternative I had gone with previously(what a joke that other company was), but another outfit here in the PNW is working on F-SD skids and let's just say I think you'll all be very very impressed with them, beyond Talon's.
Will be '17-21+ F250/350 first...
My question/point was that AFAIK, factory dual tanks for Ford has always been diesel only and on CrewCab pickup only, not petrol or SuperCab or RegularCab pickup or chassis-cab.
IIRC RAM allows factory dual for their Hemi petrol (or Cummins diesel), GM I'm unsure.
Odd though that OEV would put...
Confirming there's no way to have dual petrol tanks with the 7.3L Godzilla, correct? 40gal aft-axle on a chassis-cab is the largest possible factory petrol tank?
Agreed on the ZF8--it's super stout. Engine choice--ok, a bit more complicated than needed.
What engine/tranny combos would you like to have seen @zimm?
That's what I took it to mean.
Ceramic film for the Aterra windows is on my list, and good news is that it comes in clear (ie non-tint) to keep the interior brighter vs darker. I have ceramic on all my vehicles and it makes a sizable difference, although I haven't needed out and taken...
What looks heavy? Have you seen the other truck campers out there? Another F-SD I follow on IG just weighed in at over 18,000lbs! Uff da.
Different chassis, same/similar cabs 150 to 250/350/450/550.
@RAM5500 CAMPERTHING burnt his hand on his TO aluminum frame in Death Valley. True story I've been told.
It's true that there's a sizable amount of insulating loss thru <any> windows. In my AterraXL I initially found the largest "wowzas" with the amount of heat coming into the camper in the...
Well, I will say that the industry didn't seem to see many GXV rigs there for awhile (and certainly no AdventureTrucks). Now they've been purchased by Storyteller Overland (ClassB Sprinter van builder). Will be interesting to see where GXV goes from here.
What I was told by Mario at ATO;
"The walls with their coating inside and out are 5/8” thick with R-4. The floor is 1-1/8” thick R-6. The tapered and flat parts of the roof are 9/16” thick with additional insulation yielding R-8. The key to cold weather comfort in this shell is minimal thermal...
Quade at Overland Adventure Truck if now offering TC shells and in-house interior layouts too.
Custom is great, IF you're patient with the design process and wait time to have someone you trust build the interior.
Congrats on your build Andrew! Great choice on the 6.2L.
Sorry to hear "those who know more than you" didn't recommend factory 4.30 (w/ rear e-locker). As stated, that would have been the wise choice to best prep for future 37" tires. Higher gear ratio # (ie 4.30 vs 3.73) = smaller gear vs...
Yep. Unfortunately I had no choice in the matter.
Update;
--bottom step is at fab shop for some slightly longer legs.
--fab shop will be modifying my 2nd row dog platform, to make it a 2pc unit, so that I can remove the right rear "40%" section when needed and allow a family member to sit back...
