'99 Montero - Clunk noise when turning

I don't recall exactly what fixed it, but I've replaced the ball joints (upper and lower), sway bar bushings... and I haven't had the issue year years.... going to be doing control arm bushings this week/weekend.

    More Gen 2 seat questions

Take a couple of measurements with photos showing where you measured to.... I have manual seats on my 99 (they are bouncy seats from a gen 2) I can double check the measurement on mine. I'm 6'3" and I don't find the driver's seat cramped for knee room.... But perhaps I'm just acustom to it by...

    Intake plenum questions

    1) I believe it is the DOHC motors only. Although the Gen 3, 3.6L has as butterfly as well 2) I also believe that pieces from the butterfly fall down into the cylinder area and cause untold damage to the top of the cylinder and inside of the head. 3) Yes 4) Not sure 5) If it was me, I would want...

    ODB2 pin-out diagram

replied to your FB post... but will repost here Check the FSM electrical section on page 43 (or 53, one is for CA vehicle). I think connector C-99 is the one you want for the OBD2. I would look through all of the pages at the bottom for C-99, and then make notes about what each pin does...

    ON the fly adjustable shocks

https://www.4wheelparts.com/ check 4wheelparts. they have a deal where if you order 4 there is a big discount.... I bought 4 bilsteins for just over $300 with shipping and tax. Seems like the best deal around. have been on a couple of trips with the shocks... they are awesome! this link might...

Not So Modest 2000 (Gen 2.5) Montero Build

if you're going through the effort of adding a locker.... I would suggest pulling one from a gen 2 with the 4.63 gears... pull the front as well... then you'll be set for 33" wheels. Because the 2000 didn't have a locker, you can't just swap one in... something about one of the axles is...

Gen 3 - Companion Flange Fell Out (A must read for Gen 3 owners)

Might have just taken the right kind of flex to pop it out. Even something as simple as going into the driveway of a business with a somewhat deep gutter (at the right angle) can flex the suspension significantly (for a Montero). I'd top it off with fluid and then see what happens.... but...

Gen 3 - Companion Flange Fell Out (A must read for Gen 3 owners)

If your rear diff is trashed because the oil leaked out and it ran dry, a circlip won't fix that. I found the leak after my wife pulled up our very steep driveway and the axle popped out... So virtually no miles driven. I ended up expanding the clip a little with pliers and putting it back...

    Overheating/Gauge Puzzle

Did you put in one of those fail safe thermostats that when they get too hot they stick open? Also, if you can, plug something into the OBD2 port that can read the engine coolant temp. The gauge will read almost dead in the middle between like 190 and 230.... that's a lot of range, and...

    ON the fly adjustable shocks

I ditched the adjustable for a set of 4600 bilsteins. Have been out on 2 trips with them... They are great! Four wheel drive parts had a special if you buy 4 shocks. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk

Looking to Buy a GEN III

make sure you do a 20+ minute drive, seems that my center diff light begins to flash after 20 mins on the highway. I think it's part of the 4wd solenoid system that I need to replace... it makes 4wd not work, but still fully drivable.

    Looking for a locker

make sure you pull the airpump from an SR, and other hoses and fittings from underneath.... the air pump is in the cubby hole under the rear seats on the passenger side.

    Looking for a locker

I think that is correct.... Just smaller axles on the LS Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk

    Looking for a locker

That sounds a lot more expensive than a trip to the junk yard and dropping the entire rear axle and going home with it... (And the pump and the switch that goes in the cab) Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk

    Looking for a locker

sounds about right... LS's came with smaller ring gears front and rear, as well as smaller axles in the front (probably rear too).... the housings might be the same, but I'm guessing that everything has different splines. On the plus side, if you can find a gen 2 in the junk yard, it is a bit...
