Pulling diff gears from Gen 2 SR

if your'e talking about the rear.... there are 4 bolts on the inside of the wheel that hold the axle shaft to the axle tube. Unbolt those and give the axle/wheel a yank outwards... it will come easily free... you might want to unclip some of the emergency brake line first though.

Pulling diff gears from Gen 2 SR

Correct.... 4.6(36) will drop straight in if you already have a locker

when you installed your roof rack, did you take the silver trim down? it looks like my gutter mounts are going to squish the trim pretty well.

Pulling diff gears from Gen 2 SR

an hour or two for the back... if you drop the cross member that the front is connected to, you'll save a lot of time on that. Undo the cross member last, totally disconnect the front from the axle shafts first, and it should come out "fairly easily"... but it's heavy. If you have an impact...

98 Gen 2.5, putting in Park on a steep slope. Truck not happy.,

yeah... best to use the parking brake. All of the weight of the vehicle is on the rear diff, transferred into the drive shaft, into the transfer case, and then into the transmission. Perhaps something is busted in the transmission that locks the tranny into park, causing it to slip when the...

Pulling diff gears from Gen 2 SR

10mm, 12mm, 15mm & 17mm combination of sockets and box wrenches. I swear, you can probably take the entire vehicle apart with those sizes. plus diff fluid, don't get ones limited slip additives, they aren't good for lockers. You may need a breaker bar. Set of jack stands makes it easier to...

Pulling diff gears from Gen 2 SR

Yes, there is one air hose, I don't think it's clamped because unlike arb lockers, this is a low pressure system

Pulling diff gears from Gen 2 SR

I've done that exact swap myself last year. the 3rd member is heavy as all get out. So be ready to catch it when it comes loose. But the rear is really simple to remove just as billygoats said. You probably only need to pull the rear axles out ~4 inches. at the junk yard, I just yanked and...

    Pajeros Gone Wild ....

I'm guessing the sideways jump seats are not legal in the US for that model year. I would prefer those to the seats we received in the US.

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

I think we remember your cluster photo showing 200k+ miles.... You aren't on the stock water pump... And if it hasn't been done recently, you probably better plan on doing it soon. The job isn't too bad, but it does take a long time, and some bolts are a pain to undo (ac compressor comes to...

Need recommandation on 12v air compressor

One of the tricks that someone suggested is to air up both fronts or both back tires, and not the left side then right side. That way if you're pump dies after only getting 2 tires or 3 tires inflated, you'll have a matching PSI on the front or back, and not 2 inflated tires on the same side.

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

if you were overheating before the electric fan mod, I'm guessing the new setup isn't the problem. I think there are a couple of drain plugs in the engine block... You might be able to undo them and clear out some chunks of crud. But they might be too corroded to remove. You'll have to do a...

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

Did you have this overheating before the new radiator Another crazy thought is that perhaps the radiator has too much flow capacity. So the coolant is getting through too quickly and not exchanging heat.... At speed it isn't a problem because the additional airflow through the radiator can...

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

Some ideas to think about. Do you have some multi meter that can measure current? Perhaps the fans aren't getting enough power, and aren't turning as fast as they should? Are the fans pulling air through the radiator or pushing into the radiator? Can you override the temp activation and...

ATV ramp - check Garvin 7" gutter mounts - check New laptop screen - check? 2 year old climbed up in the office chair and tried to pick up the 8lb box of the gutter mounts off the desk... The box got dropped on a closed Macbook air, cracked the screen. All of a sudden, this inexpensive diy...
