    Gen3 side plastic color ideas

I plasti dip'd all the plastic & front and rear bumper covers 1.5 years ago.... it's holding up REALLY well. It has started to peal a bit right under the drivers and passenger's doors... when people get out, their legs tend to slide over that part of the body work and pull the plasti dip down...

    Factory amp location, 2nd battery?

Has anyone considered putting a 2nd battery in the box that houses the factory amp on a gen 2.5? for some reason, I just noticed the box sitting below the rear passenger seat for the first time. it looks big enough to hold a 2nd battery, but am not really sure of the inside dimensions, or the...

Replacing Gen 3 Heads (Like a Virgin). Any Recommendation?

you might also want to replace the exhaust manifolds... I have a cracked driver's side, and from what I've read.. they are commonly cracked.

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

Swapped out rear springs for old man emu HD. Side by side, old springs have almost the same height as the OME. But on the truck OME shot my back end up a couple of inches. OME also weighs about 3x of the factory spring. Too many times have I bottomed out on a large bump while loaded up on the...

2003+ Idle Relearn Procedure for 3.8L Montero

Haha. I'm reading you now. The only way I know is to drive it around. But cleaning my throttle body and air maf sensor helped with idle in the past... not so much that it just worked, buy better than 450..... maybe like to 600

    Gen III transmission

In my younger days I once put a car in neutral while going down a freeway in Chicago, pulled the key from the ignition and had a buddy unlock the globe box to get a map or something "important". I'm still here to tell the tale. It was a manual, so clutch in was a bit different than an auto in...

    Engine help needed - 3.5L SOHC 1998 Gen 2.5

perhaps the crank-shaft timing-belt pulley walked forward a little, perhaps bringing the belt with it? I think you'll be totally fine with some new parts and slapping it all back together. The biggest pain in this job is the AC compressor.... there are 4 bolts that are quite a challenge to...

    Engine help needed - 3.5L SOHC 1998 Gen 2.5

I made the tool with a drill and a hacksaw...(and 3/8ths inch bolts) pretty much the same as a circular saw and a hammer :-) The tool works really good in one direction for loosening, and you have to flip it over to tighten the crank pulley. I've also used a chain wrench around the crank...

    Engine help needed - 3.5L SOHC 1998 Gen 2.5

IIRC, the inspection hole is on the passenger side.... and it's small... like 1.5 inch square.

    Engine help needed - 3.5L SOHC 1998 Gen 2.5

Almost looks like the timing belt was sliding forward on the cam. There isn't a forward stop on the cams, but there is on the water pump. If the pump was failing, it might have guided the belt forward due to the pump pulley being loose... thus pressing into back of the cover fallowing the belt...

Land Rover Discovery rear door ladder

I've seen a photo in the past, looked like it worked really well.... but to be honest, I find that if I stand on the back bumper, I can then pretty easily take a step onto the spare tire and then easily on to the roof rack. Standing on top of either rear tire gives me good access to items on...

    Valve Stem Seal Color

pretty sure I read something about the intake and exhaust seals becoming the same part at some point..... I don't recall any specific difference between intake and exhaust seals that I used on my '99.... no differences in the part of the head the push onto either.

Doing timing belt/ Water Pump goofed up timing

Gen 2.5..... I've rotated the cam shaft on the passenger side all the way around several times with the crank pulley on the timing mark. I've found that if you move the crank back 1/2 to 1 tooth counter clockwise, when you rotate the whole thing clockwise the crank pulley lines up exactly on...

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

Google around for the procedure. There are some videos out there. If I recall correctly, I did drain the tranny and refill before going to the cooler lines. But that just took care of what was in the pan.

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

I just swapped out the free wheel solenoids and that fixed my center diff flashing light issue. There is a test you can do on the solenoids to verify if they are working. I also have the 2200 vibration, I did a tranny fluid flush and that helped a great deal. I ended up putting a clear hose...
