Hemi Wrangler or Gladiator or both?

Sean P Holman from Motor Trend just said, on the record, that the V8 Wrangler is absolutely coming. It's not just a concept, it's really coming as an option. He was on the development program for the JL, and the Bronco. If he says it, I believe that's as good as the real thing. (towards the...

Hemi Wrangler or Gladiator or both?

Yup, competition is a VERY good thing. If we're lucky something will force FCA to bring down the price on the JL and JT too! -Dan

Hemi Wrangler or Gladiator or both?

You guys think Jeep would Tweet about this on thier official twitter and then not build it? My money says it's real. Also, for what it's worth, AEV's official line so far is they won''t be doing HEMI kits for the JL or the JT because there are already enough engine options to choose from. -Dan

    Extended JK, JXL

I had a good look at this kit at Overland Expo a few years ago before I built my JK + Ursa Minor for around Africa. I can say categorically the worst thing about my Wrangler is that it's too heavy, and it impacts how it drives and handles. I can also say if I had another 18 inches of storage...

Adventures of Hodor, A Gladiator Build Thread

I agree 100% - it's absolutely perfect to squeeze into a 20 footer which is fantastic, because you'll save a ton of money compared to other shipping options. I wouldn't be scared to air down to ~10psi for the final vehicle length you have to drive into / out of the container. Thanks again...

Hey Camdog, This thing looks sweet! Can you please do me a favor and run a tape measure from the ground to the highest point on the closed camper? I'm curious to know if it will fit in a shipping container. Also info about what size wheels and lift you're running would be very helpful too...

My Navigation setup to drive around the world

Hi All, Back in the day I used only paper maps when I drove the Pan-American highway from Alaska to Argentina - I had no digital mapping of any kind, not even a phone. It worked, but it was far from perfect. Things have changed a lot since then, and for my around-Africa expedition and North...

    High Mileage Pentastar JKs?

I have a 2011, which is think is the best of both worlds. It's the last year of the 3.8, so they had worked out all the bugs, and when it was stock I regularly got 22-24mpg. It also has the new interior, which I think is much nicer and more modern. The old one scratches really easily. The 6...

    High Mileage Pentastar JKs?

That's fascinating. You have the same 6 speed as me (NSG 370) which is actually a Mercdes box (when I got a new clutch all the parts have Mercedes logos and part numbers...) The gearbox is well known for being reliable and not giving problems. Mine has never given me cause for concern, just...

    High Mileage Pentastar JKs?

Hey Christian, The 2010 has the earlier 3.8 V6 (NOT the Pentastar) - same engine I have and went around Africa with They're commonly known as being very durable, but gutless. If it's an auto I wouldn't buy it if you paid me. Also the higher mileage ones burn oil, stepping up to 10W30 helped...

The Road Chose Me: Driving a Jeep Wrangler 80,000 miles around Africa for 2 years

Hi All, The number one question I get asked after driving the length of the Pan-American Highway from Alaska to Argentina and all the way around Africa is how much does it all cost. In this video I get right down to it, and give actual numbers not just from my experience, but also from other...

Options for Auxiliary Water and Gas at the JKU underbelly

Here's how I mounted a tank, pump, filtration and UV treatment setup under my JK. It was perfect for three years around Africa. Let me know if you have any questions. For extra gas I have the AEV fuel caddy - an extra 10 gallons on their tire carrier, and combined with the stock tank it was...

    Damaged MAN Expedition truck

By my estimations.. even if the shipping back to Europe cost $20k and the repairs cost $50k (which are both WAY high) ... there is still a good deal of profit to be made on this. These vehicles are insanely expensive. -Dan
