We are not ruling that out as a possibility down the road but right now we have our hands full with Habitat orders and need to keep focused on that for the sake of our customers who are patiently waiting.

The gas struts are necessary to open the top and removing them is not an option.
We have a new side door option that is approx 54 x 15. It can either lift up on gas struts or drop down on lanyards to make a side table. Here is a picture of the prototype:

We don't have any specific fit kits at this time. It is a DIY system. We provide the main components and the geometry of the struts. The end user has to figure out how to mate it to the application.

The Habitat 5' & 6' models fit all generations of Tacoma from 1995 to present. We fit a 6' on a Gen 1 access cab already. You could always be the first Gen 1 DC.
