The Excursions are neat machines, always admired them. Don't count the Sequoia out so easily, though. It shares much with the 200 Series Land Cruiser, so the chassis and driveline are overbuilt and very durable.
Yes, the 2007+ Tundra, 2008+ Sequoia are based on the 200 Series Land Cruiser.
The 100 Series chassis was never used for anything but the 100 Land Cruiser.
T100 shares much with the 86 - 95 truck and 4-Runner.
2000 - 2006 Tundras are somewhat Tacoma based.
I respectively disagree. The 200 chassis is quite HD... just about all of the problem areas, if one wants to call them that, on the 100 were addressed with larger and/or HD designs, some significantly so. The 200 is FAR closer to a 70 Series in build and design than a LR4 is to a 110. Some...
The CV shaft was the only thing I could think of that may have gone wrong with the repair. The Land Cruiser 200 uses the same front differential, but being AWD, it does not have or need the needle bearing to support the CV stub. The stub rides right in differential case, and there is no issue.
The inner CV stub axle and the needle bearing it rides on are the real issue. Either the bearing was spec'd a bit loose, or the the diameter of the stub axle was slightly small. The new differential has a tighter bearing for the stub axle to ride in.... BUT, sometimes the stub shaft is damaged...

These engines have three siamesed intake ports with head bolt bosses running right through the middle of each, it's weird setup and not the typical port job. With that said, there are tons of mods that people do to these heads, all well documented.... and the engine can be taken very far from...
Yes, you just need to keep the tube diameter small. A dual 2" would likely work well. Running a short system will require more sound control, so a large muffler should be utilized.
Headers can offer gains, but their longevity and sealing abilities can be questioned... My brother in law runs...
