No, Those are custom progressive, Atlas Springs. I've run everything from a big slide in to a camper shell on those springs. They ride great no matter what. One reason why I love this truck is that it will do anything I need except pass a gas station. :ROFLMAO:
After a major ordeal, I got my first window in the camper. It's tough when you have to figure this stuff out for the first time. Hopefully the next one's will be easier.
This shell is just a big box. The truck is already a barn, not just a barn door, going down the road. On a recent trip back...
My new camper is not going to make it to Expo West. We have been in a monsoon pattern like I thought we would. My days have been cut in half because it starts raining at noon. Today I could have done some work in the afternoon, but I had no way of telling that the rain would hold off. I got a...
So here are the results of my extensive panel bonding research. Bonding wood to aluminum. From top to bottom:
GE silicone. Just caulking really. No bonding strength at all. Not even that good for around the kitchen sink.
Liquid Nails. Dries hard. No flex. Not real strong of a bond either...
Trying to get my wood and aluminum angle monocoque camper shell done in time for expo west. I've been fighting this thing the whole way. Everything is constantly moving. Today I pulled it out of the garage with only one panel left to install. It buckled the frame of course. All that work and I...
I always like to be different. Everyone was into Camaro's so I got a Firebird. I like all brands; I own 2 Isuzu Troopers. I always liked the design of the Scout and the International trucks were built to last!
An article I just wrote about Scout Motors racing the NORRA Mexican 1000. It's great when a new venture respects the legacy so much. I had access to the NORRA archives. Did you know about the Condor? https://www.offroadxtreme.com/news/scout-motors-returns-to-baja-for-norra-mexican-1000-rally/
I haven't posted about the camper shell I am building. I just could not find something that matched my needs so I built my own. It has been another learning curve. I would not do it this way again. I am using thin plywood glued and riveted to aluminum angle for the most part. It's been a...
When I hear about these vans with manual transmissions I wonder how. I can't imagine having another peddle crammed in there. I've gotten used to driving with my left leg up on the fenderwell.
My gas door had the inner structure too. It was made by Drake, but I think they were bought by someone else. Don't forget the filler neck. https://www.fillernecksupply.com/
A lot of the lights on the market now are overkill. When you are able to blind oncoming traffic a mile away, even if it's off road, when can you actually use them? I researched lights for an article I wrote after hearing professional racers talking about "out-driving their lights." They were...
I was reminded about Overland Expo West today. Submitted my credential request. Got invited to go wheeling before the show too. I hope this psycho won't be using me as a slalom cone again this year. Who's going?
