Having back issues too, I got one of these:
https://barebonesliving.com/products/shovel?_pos=4&_sid=73566139f&_ss=r&avad=196258_c2b05fcb1
It’s well built, works in both straight shovel and 90° trenching tool positions. It’s a bit too pretty, but that will change quickly.
It let me ditch my...
+1 on this! I have the same awning, and I live in Phoenix ?
I have measured the underside at 130° in direct sun when its 85° using a calibrated heat ”gun” thermometer. It’s so hot it will actually heat the camper inside.
I slammed 23 Zero about his on a survey they sent me, but …
Lets both...
Also … to see the stand up room in a short bed see the picture in post #17 of this thread for a picture @Pshin took for me when I was trying to figure this out. Its a 5’ bed, but I’m pretty sure the sleeping platform is the same length. So, mentally add 6” to the space shown. Maybe that will...
If you’re gonna seriously camp and travel, I think you will regret not going 6’5”, especially if you do any kind of interior build and travel with another person, dogs, etc
Thanks — I’ve come to a similar conclusion. I got a CCrane Skywave radio for an upcoming trip which won’t be too remote, so should suffice with the WeBoost and will pick up the Baofeng after. Will likely take the test, cause why not?
If you go from highway to serious offroad a lot really consider shocks with adjustable compression. Icons, Fox, Kings all have that available and I'm sure others do too. Adds some price, but really worthwhile for control and ride on different surfaces.
If you want to leave a naturalistic finish, I've also had really good results with Minwax wipe on Poly. It soaks in, and with several coats really protects well without a shiny plasticy surface. I've used 5 or 6 coats on a hardwood kitchen table with a final wax coat and it's impervious but...
@terrie If you haven't found it yet, there's an Ovrlnd campers thread here: https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/ovrlnd-campers-only-post-your-ovrlnd-camper-build-here-or-a-link-to-your-build-thread-to-inspire-others.229680/ with lot's of ideas and growing, though I think...
If you really want to revive them (and intend to keep with AGMs in future) maybe try another charger?
Odessey’s chargers have some additional capabilities and are AGM specific. You might call them to see if it’s worth getting one. Their CS has always been real helpful to me.
That Ctek is...
I did the same, thinking about a FWC, but went with the access cabTundra (Toyota, confusingly, calls it a double cab) for that very reason plus cheaper to buy and build as well as more nimble offroad with 5 foot smaller turning diameter and IFS.
Went with a topper type poptop (Ovrlnd) to keep...
Good looking rig! You’ll love it.
IME the PP vent helps quite a lot with dust off-road, but you’ll still need very good gasketing around the tailgate. Did you get full barn doors or the uppers?
Be sure to keep the cowling tube that comes with the PP vent — it’s real useful to hold a filter...
+1 on this. I used a Dewalt drill tap on my Scepter. Screwed in 1/4-20 SS bolt (flat head - the taper seals to the plastic) with a channel cut longwise in the lower half of the threads. Works perfectly for my gravity fed water system. No leaks when hand tightened down. Super simple.
If the...
Yeah, I’ve been looking at those, and I like the concept — so far only only finding that in Midland weather radios designed for homes and without any other bands/frequencies for additional information
To clarify, I am OK with the emergency outbound capabilty of the InReach. The “chatter” I...
I have traveled off-road, mostly in the SW, for too long with no real emergency communications. Started taking a PLB about 7 or 8 years ago, and added an inReach sat communicator 3 years ago. Since my wife and I almost always go solo and often in areas with weather threats and now especially...
