    New 2004 DII

Congrats! As another member of the White Camel Society you are welcome to join. Mine is just like Dendy's but nicer( :sombrero: Dendy) The is a beautiful DII and I can attest they ride just as well modded and one the trail and I got to enjoy a most relaxing night time run at Uwharrie with...

Want to ride ,never have before, where to start?

As the title says I'm a total newb to motorcycles but I'd love to do an adventure ride in 5 or so years. Where do you start as a 40 year old father to learn to ride and eventually get to the point that you can handle a big ADV type bike. Some background, I raced road bikes (pedal kind) from...

    Disco trans dipstick?

If you google " Land Rover Discovery II RAVE manual it will pull up a site that has the shop manual in PDF form. I think the site is LRReasource.net or similar, I can't remember it but a google search will find it. If fluid is low there should be a light on the dash to let you know there is a...

Thanks, I got lucky on the deal and while it's overkill for eastern NC there are worse things. I'm using 139 grain loads to chock it back a little and lessen the recoil. I just had it scoped in by my gunsmith and he adjusted the trigger to a 2 1/2 lb pull at his suggestion and it's nice. I had...

Funny jab at Land Rover in Car's 2

I didn't read it that way Nick-no worries! If someone doesn't know that the V8 used by Land Rover (and several other BL holdings) was originally an attempt at a small efficient V8 for medium sized Buicks of the early 60's then they are well behind the mark.

Funny jab at Land Rover in Car's 2

Not to digress further but the three cars in the California to Utah test where the Caddilac CTS-V, Corvette ZR-1 and the Dodge Challenger R/TS which didn't get the best review and was very much out of it's league in that test. I am a big fan of Top Gear and get the humour but I've always been a...

Funny jab at Land Rover in Car's 2

Here, here Nick, spot on summation. We also saw our auto industry fall in the 70's (what was it about that decade?!) which correlated with large growth in the unions. That lead to the car companies moving as much as possible out of union territories like Michigan just to states where the workers...

+1 for Temple Fork rods, Orvis also offers a good entry level package that is a good value, Reddington is another with good entry packages. All have great warranties and many times an upgrade in the reel will allow you to keep the rod for a long time as you progress. Out west I would think an...

Slight hessitation when accelerating to highway speeds

Good idea on the alt- I had trouble starting it today until I flipped the fan off, it's hot so I thought it might be the heat but a failing alt could also explain it. It's so new to me I'm still learning it but I do remember that a dead tach was the first symptom of a failed tach on a 97 XD at...

Are we fools or optimists? We just bought another Rover.

Neither...you are a romantic which one has to be to own such a cantankerous and loveable beast as a Land Rover is whatever form it is. Nice looking RRC-I like the white roof which a skeptic would say is a hint that the A/C has been out for some time but a true LR nut will only see it as a nod to...

Funny jab at Land Rover in Car's 2

Yeah, it was pretty rich. The motor in question was in the "bad guy" car which bore a vague LR look, but not really. There are clear LR's in the movie that are body guards to the Queen (black RR's) and natty looking Series trucks that are the Royal Guard at the palace.

If you were to pick up a Series III 88"...

Another tid bit on engine swaps. Another buddy of mine with several Series trucks that has put 3.5's and 3.9's in them found that having RHD may the swap easier to fit. He converted two Series from LHD to RHD due to this. He also used Disco I axle's and jut added flares to the fenders, basically...

Funny jab at Land Rover in Car's 2

Just saw the movie, it's a sequel so not as good as the original but still fun. The graphics by Pixar are as always, impressive. The identifying picture of the "bad guy" looks very much like a 3.9 at which Mater exclaimed "that's a all aluminum V8 with whitworth threads and impossible to find...

    Scopes

I looked at the Redfields as well and they are a real bargain. If I didn't find the deal on the scope I got the Redfields were near the top of the list. Same thing with a .270. That is what I was planning to get, one of the new Thompson's to be exact but the deal on the 7mag Winchester came...

70+ in a series!:Wow1: Wow-that would be exciting and terrifying all at once. My IIa was running very strong the last time I was coming back from Uwharrie and was doing about 60-that felt crazy fast. Mercedesrover did the MB diesel and Toyota axles in his 88 and 109 (I think the build thread is...

Slight hessitation when accelerating to highway speeds

It acted up this morning but this time it was early in and around 30 mph. Since I was going slow I was able to pay more attention and watched the tach as I feathered the gas to get it past the spot. As I moved the throttle in and out the tach did not move at all and neither did the engine revs...

Slight hessitation when accelerating to highway speeds

To add to the info-from the research I've done it looks like it may be the throttle position sensor (TPS). Anyone had this similar problem and did a new sensor fix it?

Slight hessitation when accelerating to highway speeds

97 DI-4.0 5 speed. I've had a slight, short hessitation when I am getting up to highway speeds so during continuous acceleration. It only lasts a second or two and feels like it is staving for fuel or spark. Only occures during longer acceleration, never around town or any other time. Is this a...
