    Ford Vrs Toyota course

You make a good point, and I agree, we are all VERY lucky. All vehicles are fun, stock or built. I like them all and don't fault anyone for being into into a specific make.

    Ford Vrs Toyota course

Well, I'll quote you "DID have higher quality". Why discuss all the way back to the F series origins, when you have already conceded the point that in your opinion, up until very recently, Toyota made better vehicles? The Tundra hasn't been around very long in the big picture, but statistically...

    Ford Vrs Toyota course

Stiffness dosn't necessarily equal strenth. What Toyota has done with recent frames is move to a reinforced C chanel. It's a cheap way to make a strong frame. Most 3/4 and 1 ton trucks use them for the same reason. Personally, I would rather have a boxed frame... so that's what I did to my...

    Superwinch X9 Trouble Shooting

The motor is probably bad... burned up, or rusted. A good upgrade for the X-9 is the winch motor from a Superwinch Husky.

    2nd Generation Tundra Building

I might swap in IRS.. :Wow1: The largest problem with the full floater conversion is obtaining the proper sensor ring for the ABS/TCS systems. No longer are the toothed metal rings in use, we have to deal with the new active sensor which is built into stock wheel bearing. I'll provide moreinfo...

    Recommendations for a H.O. alternator

You may also want to look to a larger OE Toyota alternator. I found a 130 or 150 amp 1st gen Tundra alternator would almost bolt in to the 93 - 97 Land Cruiser. It required a small bracket and a plug change, both simple and cheap. Reliabilty of the OEM Denso stuff is awesome, and replacements...

Help needed, 7" highbeam units, do they exist?

Sorry for the confusion. A regular high beam is not a pencil beam. The assymetrical pattern is on ECE low beam. Yes, what I am calling a euro/driving is more akin to the ECE high beam.

Help needed, 7" highbeam units, do they exist?

In my experience stay away from the pencil beams as your only high beam source. They simply do not have enough spread to deal with any amount of off center lighting. Get the euro/driving pattern. The 90mm DE projector modules work excellent! Highly recomended, great output for the size.

Warn Series 12 Deep Fording Winch Project

My thoughts on a gear lube or even a flowable grease like an NGLI #0 or #00 is that it can get back into the bearings that the planetary gears spin on. The #2 grease that is used will eventually cavity out of the way of everything. ATF might be a little too thin.... leak past things. One reason...

Warn Series 12 Deep Fording Winch Project

Nice to hear of one in use...thanks. You are not looking at an illusion, the winch is 1.5" narrower than the consumer series.

Warn Series 12 Deep Fording Winch Project

Thanks for the calculations. Gear box is large and heavy, sealed, might have to add a breather. Anyone ever convert one of these to gear lube? Large 4" diameter drum bearings. Real doube lip seals, possibly viton. Remote, large rocker switch is easy to use with bulky gloves. Plugs are...
