    Paddling trip in Black Canyon

A movie would have been cool. I know what you mean about the close encounters. Sharon and I had a spectacular encounter with a peregrine falcon once while paddling. I'm not sure what the motivation was, but it was very intent on interacting with us. May have been a territory thing, or curiosity...

    Paddling trip in Black Canyon

As always, great report Chuck! The falcon/avocet encounter is just too cool. I like how you can see the avocet leg sticking up in the second pic! I need to go do those canyons again sometime. That has probably been my favorite paddling trip so far.

    Land Rover Monthly- NA Edition

Well, I saw all of the hub bub here so had to go pick up a copy for myself. Having done some overlanding and "field evaluation" myself, I enjoyed the article very much and could really sympathize with you, and felt a hearty "right on mate!" for your ingenuity and ability to just deal with it...

trek to Rainbow Bridge, March 2006 (revised to Sycamore Canyon)

I have hiked Sycamore, it's a sweet little canyon. Some really cool rock formations back in there including a hole you can barely (if at all) squeeze through. My wife and I have explored a fair amount of the Gila including some incredible backpacking. I have been to a lot of the hot springs...

My new vehicle: 2005 Nissan Frontier

"Sorry....is that too trashy?" No way! The pics look great Mark!! BTW, I got to sit in this truck on the CDD trip (thanks Mark) and I was impressed with the feel and layout. Pretty plush. Nice seats. And as I said on the trip - I dig those wheels. Very "rally-esque" What should...

    solar shower bags

My wife and I used one (Stearns Safari Shower 6 gal. model blue/silver) in Baja for 4 months and it worked great. Definitely has the KISS advantage. No moving parts (except the shower rosette slides open and shut) no batteries, no filters, etc. The water can get so hot you'll have to pour some...

SawEEET!! Looks incredible. This is a very fun buildup thread indeed. It's exciting to think that U 2 will be headed out to Utah in this beast in only a short while... :jumping: Gotta love the red rock peeking out in this pic... ... LOL, and the red dirt stain on the block wall...

    Tribute to Optima Batteries

Very cool :clapsmile I like 'em too. The cases they use really impress me (based on first hand experience down in Mexico once  ) and I really like the unlimited charging current with heat being the only limit - how cool is that?

    Fused Distribution blocks...comparing fuse types.

If you go with blades, you can also use Smart Fuses, which are pretty cool. However, I really don't think it's that big of a deal if you use the glass fuses. Just pick the one you like best and go for it.
