I worked at Wilwood, and I never did get a good answer as to why they insist on putting NPT in everything.
For what it's worth there should be enough meat to machine the ports to an O-Ring boss, but now you're using a fitting and o-ring, not really sure it's that much more reliable than the NPT...
Ah yeah - I will definitely have rubber isolation in the mounting setup for the radiator - the day job makes me all to aware of what fatigue cycling does to aluminum.
I will also build the radiator support so it won't be that big a deal to replace the radiator with another option should the...
Well said, I probably came off as more defensive than I feel. I just meant to say I bought the truck for the body basically, and it's been the plan to do an engine swap all along.
Got any info on your truck? I like the proportion of bigger tires on the Scout II's.
Ehhhh. I'm not a purist, I'm building the truck to be what I want, and that doesn't involve futzing around with IH parts just to stay 'within the brand'.
I can see zero advantages to using anything from the IH engine family over a LS based (or even old Small block) Chevy V8.
IF i had started...
Feels like I've come across the same story about every type/brand of radiator out there - you gotta start somewhere!
I want a radiator with the correct sized inlet/outlet ports (and steam fitting) for the LS style motor, as big as I can fit (which is pretty much 26x19). Haven't come across...
Some info on the electrical work to get the engine running:
I laid out the electrical panel on a piece of wood just to make moving things around easier - eventually this will be replaced with a piece of aluminum. Mounting everything to the firewall will let me keep the inner fenders removable...
I'm a fan of these fittings i'd mount some of the round single point ones through bolted to your floor.

I had a thought like this a while ago, using semi-truck air brake adjusters. SUPER robust, 20:1 gear ratio, and cost about $20 shipped brand new.

thanks, I'm trying to fit in time when I can. Why'd you take down the pic? I'm curious how you did the coils in the rear, got any closer picutres? What coils did you use?
Sweet, the truck already has race car (support) parts that are Baja proven! You'll have to stop by and check it out soon...
I got the brake pedal mods finished up, rebuilt the main pedal pivot with the above mentioned flanged bushings from McMaster, and got it all bolted into the truck. This let me figure out where the gas pedal wanted to be, and modify the Silverado Drive by Wire pedal to work. I used measurements...
The new Tacoma with the 6 speed auto and 3.5 liter engine is rated at 23 mpg highway (Double Cab 4x4 Short bed), compared to I think 19 for the outgoing model. That's a 20% improvement, pretty significant I think.
Toyota has never been the innovator in the industry, why do you expect it to...
