I have an action packer affectionately labeled, "the cold weather unit". It stays in my truck most of the year and offers great piece of mind. Not that you guys will ever forget your gear again! but it is easy to transfer to another vehicle and know its all there.
It has:
-0 sleeping bag
wool...
Would it hold its own against an EZ AWN in a 12 round championship fight?
Those that have seen both please give predictions, my finger is on the trigger!
I would recommend a 0 or 10 degree bag based on the fact it can get down to 20 -30 degrees. The ratings are more of a survival guide than a comfort guide.
Mummy bags are nice and compact but I bet the wife would rather have the leg room.
A thick closed cell foam, or air pad underneath is an...
I have icons on the front of my 2001. I can really push it through the terrain and work the suspension like a dirt bike. Its so responsive it feels like it knows what its doing and pulling on its leash for more. The harder you push it the better it feels.
I also have a 2006 with OME. It is way...
I just realized how perfect and well tested a flintlock rifle really is! (thanks) Great survival gun, and think about the added safety! I'm dependent on primers. I need a flintlock!
I like your style.
I have the dakars on the back of my 01 with 255's. The Dakar leaf springs did move the tire forward. It moved it a little too far forward on my truck. It doesn't rub bad, but it isn't centered either.(on full compression)
I have spoken to a few people that had a similar experience. Some it...
Very nice rifle! Like others have said, 300 yards should be the max. The 06' requires sound shot placement to drop these beasts. You can't shoot them at any angle like you could a deer. Using a 180 partition bullet is superb.
Good luck and remember that elk can sense something is after them...
OME front and back with Ride Right airbags or timberin bumpstops. That would be your most capable setup for the budget.
Adjustable coilovers will be better at aggressive driving, and the OME will be more smooth for most of your driving.
The OME is a great setup. Some prefer it over coil overs...
The reason it will ride better off road is two fold. First you have better articulation over obstacles. Secondly, the vehicle will maintain greater stability and traction over rough terrain due to the isolation of each tire which no longer is jarred upwards or downwards by by the opposite side...
I have 33x10.5 M/T's on my 2001 Tacoma and 33x11.5 A/T's on my 2006 Tacoma. My wife and I take both trucks out wheeling sometimes because we can load them both with firewood when we get done. I get to use both sets of tires through the same stuff. When it gets really technical I end up driving...
Former Wildland firefighter for the Forest Service Initial attack. Grew tired of fighting nature and moved to the Hazmat and environmental reclamation field.
If you don't believe in "let it burn", I don't want to hear it. My wife still fights fires and we go rounds every summer on this debate...
When you spray roundup let the grass get tall first. The more leaf you have the better. Roundup translocates from the leaf down so the dose is determined by leaf size. Soaking past the point of run off won't help because the roots can't absorb it. Herbicides that absorb via root will be labeled...
I completely understand your concerns about herbicides however there is a ton of misleading beliefs about Roundup or Glyphosate. For one it isn't considered a poison by the EPA. It won't hurt any animals that eat sprayed foilage. Its very common for people to assume its a poison because one...
I run the wheelers type B (4" offset) it keeps it off the frame and the back tires are still narrow enough to tuck up into the fender wells without catching the plastic flare. I have the donahoe/T/C with Dakars in back. The Dakars moved my tire ahead just slightly so it just brushes the forward...
I would favor the rivets over welding because of the rust issue.
I also thought panel glue might be good. You know, the stuff GM mistakes for door hinge bolts.
You could look at getting some Ride Rite air bags from firestone for the rear. It is basically an air bag that helps your springs and shocks deal with extra weight by inflating a rubber cylinder between the axle and frame. You can inflate it to level out the ride height and deflate it when...
I appreciate the compliment and your comments.
I'm having a hard time figuring out the best method for supporting environmental causes. I would really like to see more hands on teaching of the public vs. suing and propaganda from both sides.
Many organizations support this and that...
That was a nice touch, I'm sure the bed rails will hold up the rack and tent forever, I just wonder if it would be worth going to the frame in each corner?
You would still have a lot of cosmetic damage in a slow roll over, but it would maintain the right shape. Plus it would utilize all that...
