    Low Swiss Crime Rates

We could learn a lot from some other countries, why must we reinvent the wheel constantly? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Switzerland

Changing a flat on lifted trucks: tall bottle jack or hi-lift?

Most any jack will work, but don't forget to block the tire that is kitty corner to the one you are changing.

Jeep Product Makes Jalopnik's 10 Worst Cars of the Decade List

Without a doubt, that was the finest Jeep offering ever. Partially fossilized women void of any mechanical knowledge are still driving every eagle car that was ever made. Its an automotive miracle really.

Why a RTT vs. a Kamp Rite Tent Cot?

I'm a big fan of t-top ezi-awn RTT's. I use mine for 1-2 week long trips in Montana during the late fall when weather can be brutal. Its more solid than a conventional wall tent and you can easily heat it for weeks off 20lbs of propane. This drastically extends my camping season in the North. I...

Dual battery setup with old battery?

Thanks for the replies! The purpose for the second battery is to power a fridge, heater, lights, laptop and winch. I doubt I would need to combine often, so if it makes the wiring more simple and reliable I could keep them isolated. My big concern is just making sure I have enough battery to...

Dual battery setup with old battery?

I know that it is wrong, and I think I know why, but I purchased a diehard platinum series exactly one year ago and I'm thinking of using it with the one I just bought for a dual battery setup. (to avoid the $189.00 purchase) If I understand correctly, the new one will be brought down to the...

    Bears and Overlanding

Why does it alarm you and why is it discouraging? Does it alarm and discourage you that the Fish and Game carry guns?

    Bears and Overlanding

I've had two close bear encounters here in Montana, one was while I was inside the tent, a black bear pushed his nose into my tent so I sissy punched it from an awkward - just woke up angle and the bear ran off. The second was while bow hunting I accidentally snuck up on a Grizzly and it...

    Hydraulic clutch in the winter.

Use a dot 3 fluid, it will help your problem as it did mine. It won't be perfect, but its much better than stock. (better cold weather viscosity than Dot 4) Also, two years is enough time for water to effect the fluid, thats when I began really noticing mine had a problem. I'm with you on this...

    suitability of M16 for Afghanistan

There is always something better, The enemy doesn't have better firepower. The M16 will place more rounds more effectively than the the AK-47 at close or short range. Keep in mind that our guys have equipment and weapons that make most engagements seem like murder. If a war is worth fighting...

    I need new boots....

Those are Garbage, no offense to your tastes but I would only invest in boots made in a country whose people wear them! Italian boots are very nice and they last way longer. Spending $200-400 on quality boots is a great investment you will never regret. Buying a boot from the orient is like...

    The original expedition vehicle...

My good friend and I both bought willys out of high school. He focused his efforts on rebuilding the original running gear while I opted to "upgrade" to a 283 v8 with larger suspension and rubber. I ended up selling my death trap abortion because it seemed a novelty, but my friend is still...

    suitability of M16 for Afghanistan

I think the M16 is a very suitable platform and the 5.56 round is very capable for the most part. The only issues I had with mine jamming seemed to be from Magazine abuse or the bolt getting sticky from powder residue mixed with the elements. I would of rather had a bit more of a projectile to...

    Solid axle vs. IFS

The answer is 34, 34 inches to be exact. :) If it is advantages to run a tire that is 34" or smaller, than a IFS sytem will net the most overall advantage. (clearance, speed, comfort, and control.) But if you have the need to run a tire over 34" tall then you will most likely prefer the solid...

    field knives

Doubt I will ever buy another knife unless I lose one of these. Top is the Leatherman wave (excellent saw) The old timer speaks for its self, and the Boker is more efficient than a buzzard when it comes to game harvest.

    Expedition Shovels

The shovel head is the perfect shape, the metal shank will insure you can pry forcefully, the wood handle is compact and thick. It reeks of quality, I think its a winner!
