Expeditions West: Moving Back to Canon

I moved back to Canon a few years ago and overall have been very happy. I moved from Canon 35mm and Pentax 645II film cameras to Fuji digital as neither Nikon or Canon had accurate skin color when digital first came on the scene. Loved the Fuji but Fuji never got serious about the bodies and I...

Photographer is swept to sea and killed today...

I do a lot of photography including some that is a little on the dangerous side - car accidents, fires, plane crashes, police and military actions, live fire, explosions, etc, etc. You would not believe the people that show up. I am most times with the emergency service people or have been...

    Chinook Baja 4x4

The paint job is okay on the street but in the bush it would really standout. Does look nice inside but the price does seem high.

    Motion Sensors for bears

I agree with others about the clean campsite. Other thing that you can do is buy a portable air horn. Will do a lot more to scare away a bear from a distance, pepper spray you have to be a little too close.

    Our "new" Tiger...

I think that the Tiger may need some steroids to get large enough for this mod!:ylsmoke:

    Go4Lo's '02 Tundra build

Go4Lo, nice pictures looks warm. Side note: you have dust on your camera sensor. Take it to a camera store and ask them to show you how to clean it. Will get rid of the black dot on the pictures.

    Kayaks for water rescue??

If you are looking at a kayak I would go with something with a larger deck/opening than a traditional kayak. I would not want to try and get someone aboard a traditional kayak in a rescue situation, in rough water, at night. Just getting to them and thinking that you could pull them back would...

Low Beams to bright on 2011 Tacoma?

Easiest thing to try is to adjust the lights down. Could be you have a heavier load in the back than what was calculated when the truck was made and the vehicle is tipped up at the front.

    Our "new" Tiger...

I like the new one as it locks and will not open by mistake. I had my top break as well and found a supplier for the unit from BC. Like you say was only a quick swap, but I would do the locking just for the extra piece of mind.

    Cooking mistakes

On a day hike, packed all the food, dishes, stove, etc - after all I am a professional. Someone (could be the guy typing this) never checked the fuel level in the stove. Hiked up hill for three hours, we were dieing for some calories. Got out the lunch, got out the pot and pan, got out the...

    External Table mount

They have used these inside campers for years, I made my outside table this spring with the quick mount and it works great! Holds a lot of weight.

    Touring Bikes

Back in 1985 I bought a Miyata 1000 touring bike. This was after having 50 other bikes that never lasted. It has a longer wheel base and 700c tires. At that time no such thing as click/index shifting, but I did add bar end shifters as it has drop handle bars. This bike has been through a...

    Midsize Camper into a Fullsize??

Not sure of the sizes that you will be dealing with but here are a few things to look into: Height of TC cab over clearing truck cab - Saw a nice job done of someone building a basement with drawers to raise the camper up enough and it gave him more space for storage. I would slide it up to the...

    Photographing the eclipse

I am going with something from the earth as it is off to the camera right, a lot more than the moon would be. Maybe a car passing and the taillights reflecting in the trees? Great picture either way!

    Homemade Folding Table: My Versions

I do like the table. The fact it folds up is nice, but the real impressive thing is that it looks like it will hold some weight. Any folding table that you buy is so weak that when I set a pot of water on it it looks like it is seconds away from folding back up, or they are made of plastic and...
