    Best CB set-up:

Chuck, just curious what you mean by "it shows".

    Best CB set-up:

Scott, if you want a roof mount setup - I would just copy Al's. He has a Tacoma and we know it works really good. I agree about not using a mag-mount. For the kind of stuff we do, I have seen way too many of them fall off, not to mention the cruddies after years of being directly on the painted...

Nathan, we missed you man. But everyone was definitely speaking your name a lot! The goodies you sent out were quite the hit :jumping: We missed Graham too. I wonder what that 110 would have clocked on the Sand course... OK, here's a few more pics. Jeff's Suzuki (2nd best time on the...

Expedition Trophy and Rally Pictures and Vids

I've processed some of my pics, but I don't have a gallery built yet. I'll throw a few in here right in the thread and if it bugs anybody due to slow connection, let me know and I'll remove them and do thumbs or something. Pre-running the navigation course (photo by Scott Brady) View...

Expedition Trophy and Rally Pictures and Vids

This was certainly a memorable event  Thanks for so many "thank you" 's everyone. I really have to hand it to Scott though - he really put this thing together rather quickly and did it very well. I just helped with the execution of his well-laid plans. Nice job Scott! The other critical...

    the famous rear bumper question.

I think for the expense and effort that would be required to safely support fuel can(s) on the stock bumper, you might as well invest that $$ into a custom unit.

Oh geez, don't tempt me! :p FM, no I think they are strictly an Australian conversion specialist. But it would be fun to build something like that, wouldn't it?

Excellent points. I was speculating that that might be the case, but I haven't been under the newest 4Runner, so I was going off the written specs alone. Thanks for bringing this perspective to the conversation, especially since you have completed suspension lifts on six 4runners. (hats off to...

Nice - sounds like a very relaxing weekend! Thanks for getting some pics of the lake. It looks like it has a come up a little bit, but yea - it is still looking pond-ish. (sigh)... Here is a pic that I took of it in March 2002.

Sorry about that. I will be re-doing some of the plumbing on my setup, so I am waiting on that before I write the article.

:p :o :p Yea, I couldn't believe it myself. I bought it through a marine wholesaler and it was an old scratch & dent unit and they were cleaning out their warehouse. There were actually 3 of them and I was lucky enough to be told about it by the guys buying the other two. We all felt a little...

    FJ Cruiser

I do when I am backpacking. Pitching a tent on the ground every night on a long trip gets old in a hurry. Not to mention if it is wet, stormy, or windy it becomes even more of a pain in the butt. The point of sleeping in a hard-sided enclosure (camper or wagon) is that it is super efficient as...

Ahhh, ok. You said "software" so I assumed you would have a laptop. I'm not sure what area you will be in, but THIS looks pretty cool for a reference book.

    dirt roads

Sounds like a great trip! So you will have a laptop with you? What about the Topo! software? The best would probably be Ozi explorer, but that would require a bit of a learning curve - not something for short notice. But with that, you could switch between various scales of USGS topo maps, and...

    FJ Cruiser

Yep. You are thinking along the same lines as I am. Those are definitely two major considerations for me, and could ultimately result in my choice of the Tacoma (again) much like I chose the Tacoma over the 4Runner last time.
