So if you ran Box downhill, how is it that Chuck ran it with you? Wouldn't you have done that first, and then on to the cabins? Or did you run the top end downhill to the turn-off, and Chuck continued out through the narrow parts? Sad to hear about the blue paint. So the night-marish rumors...

    Fridge/Freezers

BTW, I notice that Engel has a new 80 litre model available now or very soon... The MT80F and I guess they will also make a unit with separate fridge and freezer compartments, the MT80F-C COMBI. Pretty cool! (pun intended) The MT80F-C is noted in their ad in the latest Australian 4WD...

    Taco Auxillary Tanks?

NICE!!! :jumping: Careful saying that, you might get a lot of requests to "smuggle" 4x4 goodies :D Hmmm... well, unless you need the extra volume to run air tools I'm not sure there is much benefit over a one or two gallon tank. A small tank will be enough to run air lockers without the...

    New Guy!

    Taco Auxillary Tanks?

The tickets to Australia are definitely nice :) I imagine shipping costs will be an eye opener if it is anything that you can't bring back on the plane with you. :Wow1: Since you are going to put the tire on the bumper, I would definitely get the frame reinforcement like Scott has. Is...

    Auxiliary lights

I have used the LF 170's and loved them. Awesome lights. As far as actual light output goes, I mounted one side by side with a 6" KC 100w round light, and the LF was barely brighter. Same wattage bulbs, so my guess is that the slightly larger reflector, and the reflector construction on the LF...

    How Much Power Inverter?

BM, yea, I would be concerned about the heat too if you were running that inverter at it's upper limits. I think some fans like Graham has used would be in order. BTW Graham, those boxes are sweet! Coffee in the morning? How about a good old fashioned french press or filter cone? Makes the...

    Taco Auxillary Tanks?

Wil, what are you plans for the spare tire? I am of the opinion that if you can keep that fuel storage low, and between the frame rails, you will be better off. But the question of tire storage comes into play.

    Auxiliary lights

I have used roof mounted lights with good success. I think it just depends on the vehicle and the lights. As Jonathan mentioned, if the lights are mounted far enough back on the roof, the glare is not a problem. It can be a huge problem if you get the light beam washing anywhere between the...

    A 2004 Tacoma grows up

NICE!! Scott and I were discussing water storage not too long ago, and I suggested keeping the potable water storage separate from the shower/wash water. Often you will find sources for shower/wash water that you aren't that crazy about drinking. It's nice to be able to take advantage of these...

Stove or Grill or...What do you use and Why?

Pretty sweet stove 4 sure. I wouldn't mind trying one of those out. I know what you mean about the coffee. It's another "trade off", one of many the expedition traveler must face on occasion :). I'd like to have a dual burner for short, non-technical trips where weight isn't that big of a deal...

Expedition Trophy and Rally Pictures and Vids

DOH! Notice: I just realized that I forgot to give credit where credit is due. I added a note to the photo gallery page on my website to thank KC and Scott for their contributions. Scott took that first pic of my truck, and KC took all of the sand course photos. Sorry about that guys! :o
